You took the words right out of my mouth BruciesChin, a big thank you from me too for this excellent news Glitter Clare, Sir Brucie coming back on Strictly Come Dancing is a reminder of the glory days when the show was at its peak before being taken over by a gaggle of gushing girls, Sir Brucie coming back gives us all something to look forward to while we have to cope with the beige this year.
Don't include us all in your preference. Many of us do not want him back even in the specials.

My view is that it's a disaster for Strictly.
would love to know what went through the
BBC's mind to bring this awful guy back.
He can't read the autocue and the word
"hasbeen" with an unfortunate huge ego
describes him perfectly.

The autocue is sadly a torturous device, it emasculates the few naturally gifted and talented entertainers left on TV like Sir Bruce.

I miss Bruce even though sometimes his jokes were a little cheesy. I can't take to to Tess presenting, awful woman. Claudia is good with the couples in the pit talking to them after they've danced, but Tess just doesn't have the appeal. Stupid comments she makes, not funny at all. Bruce was a legend entertainer and so gutted to host Strictly. Another make host would of been better.

Anton is the natural successor to Sir Bruce when the public tire of the gushy girls.

You mean naturally gifted at forgetting names, stumbling over words, fluffing lines and having to explain jokes which aren't funny? Yes I agree he's gifted and talented at those.

As has so often been the case with your comments, you are incorrect.

If an ... autocue is .. a torturous device, [that] emasculates ...entertainers ... l it is clearly failed spectacularly with FForsyth who has, for countless years, bored prime-time TV viewers by endlessly spouting a complete load of balls.

I didn't know that Brucie would be back this year so there's no complaint from me that he is. Will be good to see him.
It certainly will be good to see Sir Brucie again soon Cressida, it will remind us all of the glory days when Strictly Come Dancing was at its peak.

I personally would rather have a so called 'has been' than the majority of 'now are's' ! (I do not mean Tess or Claudia). Sir Bruce has an ego befitting a man who has performed with some of the best stars ever. Of course if you are very young you won't know this but please don't belittle a man, owing to his age, who has had an extraordinary career in show business. We shall be all old one day and look back over our lives, unfortunately most of us will not be able to talk about the amazing people he's known and the talent he has.

This ageism against talented experienced presenters like Sir Bruce is a shame.

There's no ageism. There are just people who have/had talent like Betty White, June Whitfield, Robert Hardy, Angela Lansbury, Geoffrey Palmer, Peter Vaughan and could still perform and entertain well into old age, and then there are those who are past it.

And those are the reasons he retired, there is no doubt he played a part in setting the tone of Strictly and it's subsequent success, but even Bruce would admit he was struggling at times, there was a point in the 2012 final I thought he was about to do a Tommy Cooper he was struggling so badly- So while the bad jokes and general cheesiness of Brice did have a big impact on the show

If it had not been for the lead weight of the autocue which the producers insist on to prevent the less talented than Sir Bruce from freezing, he would more than likely still be at the helm of Strictly Come Dancing.

And he said he wasn't happy because the show wasn't what he thought it was going to be. He didn't enjoy the role of presenter. He said he thought the celebrities would dance and make a mess of it and then he'd show them how it was supposed to be done. What did he think the professional dancers were for? Did he think he could dance better than the professionals? If so, that would be arrogance beyond belief.

I've heard him say that in interviews, that when he took the job he thought it would be like the Generation Game. I doubt very much that's why he left the show though, or if it was then he took ten years to realise it...

Why they only allow him on pre-recorded SCD shows now. They can edit out the fumbles & missed cues.
I agree and given that he was part of the furniture from the start, I can put up with him twice a year. Would rather not though. It does bug me that Tess and Claude are set aside so he can do these shows, probably for a ridiculous amount of money.

I didn't mind Brucie as much as some on here. I watched a few old SCD dances on Youtube this afternoon and in the earlier series he was very good. I don't mind Tess but, I miss having a presenter who can differentiate between a Samba and a Waltz. When he commented on a performance it was from experience. Tess is getting better but, she still lacks the warmth and gravitas of Brucie (especially in the early series).

I do agree that towards the end he did become a little wearing but, it must never be under-estimated the amount of work he put in at the start to make SCD into the juggernaut it is today. What started off as a quirky charity show which a few people watched now have people like Emma Willis shamelessly putting themselves forward for the job.

Criticise Brucie all you want but, I for one will always appreciate what he did to get the show on the road.

Like most people who appreciate the few living legends that are left on ourTV screens I'm also really looking forward to the great ones return Cressida, I too shall be glued to my seat and the TV screen watching in awe as the maestro once again takes his rightful place at the helm of Strictly Come Dancing.
