Can I bluetooth my speakers and av amp?
stainless

I have an AV amp and a pair of back surround sound speakers that are currently hardwired.

The wiring currently runs under the carpet in my living room.

I am replacing this with hardwood flooring and thus would like to remove this speaker wiring. I realise there are many methods of hiding wiring but these will cause a lot of faffing about and potentially very long speaker wires to run around the room rather than straight across.

Other options were to replace the AV system with a new integrated wireless system, but that seems too expensive, particular;y as my current set uo works fine for all my av connected equipment.

The simplest solution seemed to be to adapt the red/black outputs from the av amp for both speaker outputs to use bluetooth/wireless transmitters and install powered receivers on the actual speakers (the speakers are not themselves powered).

Seems straightforward as a concept but I have found the transmitters/receivers available to be rather confusing so would like advice as to what are good transmitters/receivers for this situation and advice on how red/black outputs from the av amp connect into any such transmitter (all appear to have the concept of jack plug connection rather than stereo wire connections).

Cheers

Hardwood floor as in an interlock system?

Presumably you have the cable in place for the speakers from floor level up, on/in the wall or stands?

If so, how about flat speaker cable or ribbon speaker cable if you are feeling flush, this will sit underneath the insulation, the flat cable will be pressed into the insulation once the hardwood floor is down, you won't know it's there. I did this in our conservatory, much simpler than going down the wireless route.

I would doubt that you will find any Bluetooth (or similar wireless) system that can replace speaker cables. Most of the systems I've seen have low level line inputs on the transmit end and would likely need a separate power amp to drive the speakers at the receive end.

Your AV amp would have to have pre-amp outputs for the rear channels and a means to switch off the built in power amps to enable you to use a wireless system. And of course if there is no mains socket on or near the wall where the rear speakers are located that makes it a tad awkward to power the speakers.

A potential )if costly solution) is to check out the Philips range.

Suround sound processor built into either a soundbar - or separate stereo front speakers, a powered, but bluetooth sub woofer and rechargeable battery driven bluetooth surround speakers.

Neat solution.
