I've just joined BT Mobile, after spending 2-3 years with the Three network myself. Moved away from Three for a very similar reason, amongst others - however speeds were my main concern. [Even wrote to Three's executive office multiple of times, however they just do not care]
Originally wanted to move to EE (for 4G coverage & speeds), however they simply didn't/can't provide Sim Only deal with a 20Gb tariff. As BT are based on EE's network and are soon to own EE, I thought they were second best

.
These are the things to bear in mind when moving to BT -
EE Double Speeds (4GEE) is not available on BT - top speeds are 30mb download & approx 15mb upload.
BT restrict tethering, this was a big sacrifice for me - not to have the option available for when needed.
Visual Voicemail on the iPhone is not available with BT, however Three have never offered this anyway.
EE' Wifi Calling is currently not available for BT customers - this is a EE exclusive.
There are other minor niggles I have with the network, mostly things that you simply expect from other networks. For example, you can not alter bill dates/ direct debit dates once a contract is signed & roaming packages are few and far between/ limited.
[Im hoping BT's buyout of EE, will rectify the issues above - if not benefit BT Mobil customers]
Having said all of the above, for value for money (especially their higher packages) BT are one of if not the best - seeing as you would pay double the price (£40) on Vodafone for a similar deal on BT for £20....
If you choose to go ahead, I would recommend going via Quidco to get some cash back - they usually offer £60 cash back on BT Mobile (20Gb tariff).
