I think inconsistent moderation is a big part of it.
It seems to have become acceptable to personally insult other forum members, and too many people cant accept that others might have a different view to them. It gets exhausting.

Also, to mention summer CBB is always quiet on the forums, the forums normally pick up after a first eviction and certainly when the January series starts. Back in the golden years, there was no Twitter, Facebook etc.. to speak about BB, hence why the forums seem empty.”

The kids go back to school this week, that could mean more activity on the forum

Me too. I watch it for laughs and really can't be bothered getting offended at any of the HMs regardless of what frightfests they turn out to be (and there are a few bonafide frightfests in there!) All the judgement and outrage and OMG when something 'kicks off' is just exhausting to read. And yes, 'kicks off' can be something as ridiculous as someone breathing 'wrong'.

I'd really rather be eye-rolling and laughing at them with other like-minded posters, rather than expending pointless energy criticising/defending them in the company of people who really seem to take this silly show far too seriously.

It's because we don't have enough posts (and posters) like this.......

I think we all need to take some time, have a cuppa and locate our funny bones and return to having a laugh.

It's hard to have a lighthearted response to the show when there are so many unpleasant, irritating housemates, and when BB is obsessed with things like Farrah's tedious "drama", Janice's histrionics, and the "bromance".

There are some potentially interesting HMs, but we hardly see them.

Now even the live show is being shaped by a task rather than showing natural developments.

What is there to talk about this year on CBB? I've now caught up with the series and can't think of anything I'm moved to talk about, except maybe how poor it is so far.

It's the quietest I've ever seen this forum while the series is airing.

I'm new to this forum. I'm also an American. I've been super quiet, mostly out of respect for all the posters already here. I can be very chatty, and joined this forum because I wanted to chat with others about this show. I really enjoy the UK version of Big Brother so much better than the US version, mostly I think because the UK version tends to fill me with joy and laughter.

Yet, this season I'm not at all pleased with several of the US people cast for the show. I don't care to watch nasty arguments. I do so hate bad acting too. Yet, I can see that there are some quite talented people on this show, and look forward to seeing more of them.

Agree with all this.

Lol if you think this forum is quiet have a look at the X Factor one.

This is the problem, so many really have no idea what a forum is actually for.

Oxford English Dictionary
Definition of forum in English:
noun (plural forums)
A place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged:

nail on head for me , i just can't be @r$ed to post because Channel 5's constant manipulation drains me of all my energy & enthusiasm

I think the days of BB DS forum going down AKA 'server not found' because of site overload caused by excess user traffic, are over

I think, since the start of this CBB I have noticed a marked difference in amount of threads, but more especially, responses to the threads, yet view count seems fairly consistent

Which might point towards members just reading, and not actively partaking in discussion - which isn't
surprising after reading some replies

AND a lot of #cantbearsed

My immediate impression is that this CBB has been set up for maximum nationalistic nastiness, and there's really no pleasure in that for me. I haven't watched any of it, although I have read a few threads on the forum. I usually enjoy CBB, but this really isn't my thing.

Welcome RJ!
As Scoop would say 'give me a general vibe' RJ, may I ask what are the women like in USA when you get on the wrong side of them? On CBB they tend to enjoy shouting a lot and doing lots of hand gestures

It'll liven up for Fridays show, as that is usually when the majority of BB posters are here.

It's quiet because it's a bit meh, and so obvious how it's going to pan out.

It's the quietest I've never known it (I was 'just' a reader for years before I got an email account I could actually sign up from) and it makes me sad, so many old faces gone

Me too, I spent hours trying to have a reasonable discussion about Jenna being both vegan (apparently) and kosher, only to finally be told as matter of fact that humans don't count as either mammals or animals, so vegans can use human products (for food or clothing) You couldn't make this stuff up I swear.

I do feel I might have been being goaded into something that might get me banned...

Welcome, great to hear from you

I understand why you might not like how you're country fellows are coming across (I've worked with hundreds of North Americans and never seen anything like this from any of them). I just hope it doesn't give you a bad view of the UK whatsoever, because it's in no way representative
