I know that we are supposed to be feeling sorry for Shabnam, but I can't. She is so irritating and I feel that the actress is over-acting sometimes. When she was screaming at Kush in last night's episode I just wanted to punch her in the face. So annoying. But, I do appreciate that the storyline is very sad. I just think that Shabnam was not the right character for it.

It sounds to me you are letting your dislike for the character over take the real emotions displayed in the storyline. I can't stand Whitney, but that doesn't mean I didn't feel sorry for her regarding the sexual abuse she suffered.

Shabnam screaming at Kush was totally justified. She had lost her child for goodness sake. What did you expect her to do. Pour a glass of wine and watch reruns of Friends with Stacey and talk about old times. Plus the actress has played it spot on.

I respect your opinion though. If if it sounds closed minded, which may not be the intention.

Really? Jesus, I wept like a baby for Shabnam. I was genuinely gutted. Very well acted. Superb.

I thought I would feel this way as I don't like the character at all, however, the actress has done a fantastic job of portraying this heartbreaking situation.

What I found hard to sympathise with her on was the last episode and the packing her bags to leave/ telling kush he shouldn't have left to 'get water.'

It did make me sad when he was shouting 'he was my baby too' though. I think Shabnam seems to have forgotten that fact.

Completely disagree.

The actress has been bloody brilliant and I've found myself crying along with her in the recent scenes she has had....

I like how they introduced Shabnam to be a really hated character and then eased her down to be more likeable. Now they have made us feel sorry for her and I like how they did it with a like/hate character and not just a loved character.

Why? Because she can be prickly? Be a hypocrite? Because she deserted a previous baby (for legitimate reasons IMO)? Are her perceived faults really that bad that you can't feel sympathy for what she's gone through? I think she was a perfect character because of what I've listed.

As for her screaming at Kush, what do you expect her to do? He left her in the middle of giving birth to their dead baby FGS! I can sympathise with him that some things are just so big you want to run away and not face them but it was a luxury which Shabnam didn't have, SHE didn't want to actually go through the pain and the exhaustion of giving birth but had no bloody choice! The least he could have done is been brave and stayed put to support her so I'm not surprised she was upset and angry at his actions. Let's face it, if Masood hadn't gone out and given him a pep talk he might never have gone back in that room and ran back to his mum!

She's a bigoted, racist hypocrite.

I am not saying that Shabnam deserved it, nor am I saying that I don't empathise with the situation.

If she was racist, neither would she have probably returned to England or got involved with Kush.

I'm not a fan of Shabnam or Kush as characters - in general I find them a bit dull, but the acting was so good from Rakhee and Davood I sympathised with them so much. It was heartbreaking even though I don't care about them as people.

Same. I watched the four episodes since Thursday last night and by the end of it I had a huge headache because I was crying so much. I've never reacted like that to TV. This is such a powerful storyline and everyone involved acted their hearts out. The part that really got to me and made me have a mini meltdown was when Shabnam grabbed Masood and then they both grabbed each other again a lot harder. The greatest thing to come out of this storyline imo is the development in their relationship. I just wish Tamwar was a lot more involved. Such a shame his character is taking so long to develop.

I can't commend this storyline enough. My all time favourite heartbreaking storyline was when Ronnie lost Danielle. If Shabnam didn't have Jade then this would be my number one, but it comes veeery close to Ronnie and Danielle.

I wouldn't wish the pain she suffered on anyone, I don't see how anyone could not feel empathy for a woman having to go through that. Like when I used to watch corrie and I really don't like Maria as a character but when she had a still birth it was a hard watch - and she's not even as a good an actress as Shabnam.

Good post. This storyline has really got to me.

I'm hoping that as the storyline continues, we see more of Tamwar's reaction and him supporting Shabnam. The storyline has just started so there's more time.

She actually scared me when she screamed at Carmel. I know she's going through hell at the moment, but it really creeped me out! Lol. I'm sure there's loads of women who loses babies but are still reasonable in their responses to people and aren't rude to them. As for the way she's treating Kush is truly horrible. He's lost their baby too. She's acting like it's all about her. I'm actually starting to think Kush would be better with Stacey, and I'd never thought I'd say that!

I was a bit reluctant to watch the episodes because I'd grown to love Shabnam as a character, and it was just as hard as I thought itt'd be to see it all unfolding. Rakhee and Davood were brilliant and I also liked the way the storyline included the grief of the grandparents as well. All round a wonderful few eps and yes, I cried my eyes out.
