I have an LG G3 which I love but it's way too big for me What I want to know is the iphone 5s still worth getting? I know nothing about iPhones.

I use my phone for facebook/twitter/instagram/browing the web/forums, camera, phone, texts and calendar. thats about it! I don't play glames or watch tv etc on it.

Would the 5s/c be ok do you think?

New iPhones are being announced next week. They may announce something smaller in the new line up such as an iPhone 6c. I'd wait until then to make a decision.

Yes I would wait as they may even mark down the old stock they have left

If you want the most up to date iPhone I'd say wait until 18 Sept and get the iPhone 6s or if an older device is fine I'd get the normal iPhone 6 when prices get reduced.

I personally would NOT get the iPhone 5s as with it being 2 years old now Apps and Software will become more progressive and the processor might not be able to cope with the updates leaving you with a laggy and slow phone perhaps when iOS 10 is released in 2016.

Avoid iPhone 5c which has the last 32bit processor - the 5s and later are all 64bit and new features in iOS 9 will need 64bit.

Wait until after next week's (9th Sept) Apple event and see what happens to pricing.

Whilst the 5s is still a good mobile, the 6 has much MUCH better battery life. For that reason alone i would wait and either get a 6 at a better price when the new ones are announced in less than a week , or get the expected new iPhone.

http://www.macrumors.com is a good place to go if to see what the rumour mill has about next weeks announcements from Apple or just to join a large iPhone forum.

I love my iPhone 6 and honestly I would suggest you wait till next gen are released next week and then get a 6. Supports anything you need for the future VoLTE/WiFi Calling secure payment system if you after that as well.

Guaranteed updates nice camera simple to use you can't really go wrong with an iPhone 6 well unless you hate apple I guess on sheer principle.

Well, the new iPhones are said to use 7000 series aluminium, so they will now not have the only phone in the universe that is not pocket friendly.

They are fixing the touchscreen problems too, varied sensitivity a big issue for some.

According to a lot of people on here the 64bit processor is just an Apple gimmick.

Please don't start that again Alan, I thought we had all agreed by now that it was a storm in a teacup. Still never come across a single person who has bent their iPhone. As it happens mine was run over a couple of weeks ago by a ten ton lorry. After a new screen and camera it is working fine - oh and it's still straight

I've had both and I'm not sure I agree. I didn't notice a huge difference, perhaps a bit, say 20%.

To answer the OP, personally, I think the 5S is a great little phone. If you want 4" rather than the bigger iPhone 6 there's not a lot to beat it. And there should be some great deals around for it very shortly.

Of course it is not a problem td, now that people became aware if it.
And the Plus, at twice the strength of the smaller 6 never had the issue.

Solving the issue you say they never had is good news.

I would recommend you take opinion and advice from those that actually own and use the devices, otherwise you will just get very misleading and uninformed views.

Why answer him/quote him? I can tell you now no one pays the slightest bit of attention to what he posts. An when you quote him everyone with him on ignore has to read his tripe.

Yes, you're right. My apologies.

BTW can anyone tell me why I can only post in this forum at the moment by going to incognito browsing, otherwise I get some very weird pages ?

Just got my gf the iphone5c and she loves it because it is slim lightweight fast text and can fit in her coat or jeans pocket. also loaded with music and photos and still getting updates for it
she had the iPhone 4.
She would not swoop the 5c for anything paid 150 from my mates shop unlocked only just over a year old.
I myself you can see by my username what I have it is too big for her.

once again thankyou to everyone for your replies

i went to town today to have a look at the devices. the 6 looks good and i guess half way between my current big lg g3 and smaller iphone 5s. I did like the size of the iphone 5s it's very cute but having always had phones bigger than that galaxy s3 and s4 etc then maybe it's too small.

i will wait a while anyway as advised above as i am in no rush.

I understand what you mean about a nice size phone for my hand. 4.5-5inch is about the right size for me lot of phones seem be over 5 inches at present.

Yep get the 6 when the new 6S is out, prices will come down as everyone else said.

I love my 6, it's just the right size, not too small and not too big.
I remember when I sold my 5s for a 6 I was thinking is this going to be too big, but after a few days you get used to it, and because it's so slim it doesn't feel any bigger or heavier in the pocket than the 5s did. All round the 6 is great, good camera, good video, nice screen for games, web browsing/watching videos, good battery life.

I have doubts they will use 7000 series aluminium. Strengthening the main problem area, the volume cutouts might suffice. That main bending problem was never in the middle.

I recommend any iPhone from the 5s on wards. You'll find they perform superbly and the look advantage they have over all other handsets it's well known. You will be better going for the iPhone 6 onwards as the advantages over competitor devices really are huge.

Also you will get software updates for many years where as competitor devices are hit an miss as to when they get updates. Leaving millions with faulty devices as they cannot use the newer features when the device is only 18 months old is some cases.

I would imagine you'll be extremely happy with an iPhone an the look advantage it has over competitors. Obviously wait for the Apple event an if you like the newer models announced order early or you'll find yourself waiting weeks for a handset due to the extremely high demand these newer iPhones will have due to offering unrivalled abilitys such as "next generation 3D touch screens".
