Well done.
Some think that it's wrong but I don't care.

Rare is my preference but can do up to a medium at a push if I overlook it, which doesn't happen often. Only if I get distracted. If I am out I always ask for rare and will send it back if it is overcooked.

Damn. Didn't see the word cooked at the end of the sentence.

In UK medium as most chefs cannot cook a decent medium rare ie usually over cooked on outside and raw in middle (on average medium rare)
In France, any chef can cook medium rarev (A Point in French accent). |

This. I've grown up eating steaks that have been cooked all the way through. If they are well seasoned and a good quality cut, I still find they taste flipping lovely. Don't give a monkey's what steak snobs think.
My chef mate assures me that when it comes to steak, there should ALWAYS be a bit of pink in the middle, even if cooked well done. Just enough to not ruin the steak completely, he says. My personal preference is medium rare, but I'll eat a steak rare from time to time. Not brave enough to try a blue steak. |

I've said medium well. Though I actually don't mind well done.
This debate always ends up with the rare brigade deducing that people who like well-done like their steaks dry and shrivelled. That's not what well-done means. A proper chef will be able to time a steak so that it is perfectly moist and tasty, only without any pinkness left. |

Not really a lover of steak, it would have to be medium I suppose if i had to have one.
There are good chefs in this country and are British that can cook a steak, France is not the only place. Argentina is the place for meat, so I been told. |

It's not about being a "steak snob", cooking a steak well done dries the meat out and ruins it completely.

Medium well or well done depending on my mood, but either way it has to be served with Mushrooms, Onion rings, chips & a nice helping of peppercorn sauce.

I don't care how other people like their steak. Have it how YOU like it not how people say you should like it.
I like mine rare. If you want yours well done, have it well done as long as you are enjoying it. |

That's personal opinion surely? I eat steaks rare and wouldn't want one well done, but telling people they are wrong for liking it like that is ridiculous.

This is what I keep telling my mate when he says that sheep and cows should be in fields, but if we all stopped eating meat over night, what did he think would happen to all those animals? |

I used to have them well done but over the years my taste has changed and I now prefer them medium rare.
I like it thick cut and with a lot of fat on it. Rib eye is one of my favourite cuts but don't mind rump. Also like a nice T-bone, when you can get them. |

But there would be no cows or very few if we did not use them for meat, farmer would not keep them for show.
