I just bought a new Roku 2 media streamer. It's the latest version and there's apicture of the iPlayer logo on the box, however there is no iPlayer channel available in the Roku Channel store.
Am I doing something wrong here? i only want the box for iPlayer and YouTube.

Well the BBC keep discontinuing various of their iPlayer services, perhaps the Roku2 one was one that's gone now?.

Presumably you've updated the software on it?.

Thanks for your responses. The box automatically updated on connection. I created an account following the onscreen instructions giving my UK address.

It should have iPlayer according to this list from the BBC. Is it not in the Roku store?

It's just a Roku 2 with a few more bells & whistles - like a voice activated search via the remote - but essentially they're the same.

I just spent a long time with Roku online chat, and it seems my problem is that the account I set up is seen as a US account. They couldn't do anything about it! I tried again making sure checked UK as my country but I keep getting a US account. I tried ringing Support and though i got through the agent's US accent was so strong i couldn't understand what she was saying. I've done a factory reset on the ROKU box, tried 2 different email addresses to set up an account, but still it thinks I'm in the US. Think I might try a chromecast.

Is it down to your IP address? For example, a while ago, Plusnet users were complaining about being redirected to the US versions of various websites, because of the IP address used.

However, trying a Chromecast isn't a bad idea if you specifically want the iPlayer: the iPlayer on Roku 2 has been broken for many users for the last six months, with stripes appearing at the top and bottom, cutting off the full screen. (see also http://forums.roku.com/viewtopic.php...5070&start=135)

That's interesting. Plusnet is my provider. Maybe I'll contact their support to see what they say. I'll check the link you provided too. Thanks.

I just bought a new Roku 2 a few days ago, I already have two Roku 3's and wanted one for my bedroom tv. Iplayer was already there when I booted it up and added it to my account.
Its certainly there in the channel store though!
The problem with the stripes at the top and the bottom was not just on Roku 2, it was prominent on both my Roku 3's and just disappeared one day. BBC may have done an update, I do now have a problem that prevents me using the pause play ff rw on my remote in iplayer, you have to select the ones on the onscreen graphic, which is irritating!

Yes they are - I've a Roku 3 (best feature is headphone socket in the remote) and it had iPlayer out of the box.

You do have to add the media player app which works very well over my network. I recently got a PS4 thinking they would have improved media streaming since the PS3 - they haven't!

I wish that the differences had been made clear earlier on! I only got Roku 3's because at the time I was made to believe that it was the only model that could connect using Ethernet. I throw away the enhanced remote and replaced them all with regular IR remotes. I am never going to use voice search (or any search) or any of the features that make the differences between a 2 and a 3. I despise wifi devices and wont use them or have them in the house. All I wanted was a device that could be used for all the UK on demand services and able to operate more than one at the same time.
Still what's done is done! I bought Roku over the NowTV box because NowTv could only connect wirelessly. Recently Now Tv have emailed me details of a new box with Ethernet...

I assume reason you want ethernet is because you do not get a strong wifi signal. All you need do is create a new wifi access point.

You basically connect a second router to main router via ethernet and connect to second router local to you via wifi.

Good device as follows

No its because the house is wired with several Ethernet points in every room. I don't want ANY device that emits a wifi signal of any kind in my home, no routers, no cordless phones, no mobile phones, no laptops etc.
The house has an optical network terminal into which a fiber line comes from the street, and Ethernet then connects it to the router (Cisco RV325) from there the cables are wired to all the rooms.
I open up my WDTV live and remove the wifi card, and changed the wifi roku remotes for regular infra red ones. I have a smart TV, Rokus, and WDTV.
