Be aware that the 810 in the Z3+ made the phone run rather warm so unless they've changed it in the Z5 I'm not sure I would be too confident using the phone...

Its not a good time to be buying a QC 810 based device at the moment. |

Apparently QC have mitigated this with v2.1, like you I am sceptical. Depending on who you believe OnePlus say it works fine, yet speeds are throttled so it doesn't overheat.
So it doesn't seem like it made too much of a difference. |

IIRC though, after those claims came to the surface it turned out pretty much every 810-toting devices out there was using v2.1 anyway - it was only something like some of the early batches of M9s that had the older version.
So it doesn't seem like it made too much of a difference. It seems as though Sony have packaged it quite well. |

I have owned phones from both manufacturers and found sony to have the best software support and less crap filled phones, Samsung soon make sure the phone is outdated when a new one is due out, Whereas sony continue to support for years.

You could always wait for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge mini alpha LTE urban plus which will probably be released a week after the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge mini alpha LTE urban.

The Samsung likely also lasts longer being lower power 14nm cool ! |

Sony do support their phones for a long time, they're just a bit slow at updates sometimes.
However, I'll take getting Android M at some point rather than not knowing if it's ever coming... |

Sony Z5 for me.
I'm a Sonyphile to be fair, but the 4K screen & the fact that it won't be as common as the Samsung are the clinchers for me. |

Does that mean you are clumsy?

Z5 = 6 watt SOC.
S6 =5 watt SOC http://www.anandtech.com/show/9330/e...20-deep-dive/7 And that shows the G6 up to 50% faster on less watts whilst driving a much higher resolution screen. So dont buy the Z5 for snappy gaming. |

As far back as the S2, Samsung handsets were receiving firmware updates more than 2 years after launch. If you look at Sony or HTC handsets of the same era, support stopped for them months or even a year earlier. Just because a manufacturer releases a new handset doesn't mean support for the old one stops. |

Have you considered any other phones as the Huawei Mate S looks very tempting:

Yes, the Z5 line including the compact looks like a strong lineup to me. I hope Sony makes some progress this time around, they make some decent handsets, but always seem to get overlooked.
Only drawback for me is that they don't use Amoled. In essence it is over engineered. I would pick Sony for quality innovation and durability every time. |

Depends if you count a durable waterproof casing as quality. And until recent their screens were lacklustre.
I always liked the Sonys for their styling, but it is extremely debatable which manufacturers are the top for quality. |

Would you take that over the iphone 6? Choice of iPhone or Android is typically very personal. I'd go for Android over any iOS device every day, but some would make a different choice. |
