To the OP the Edge in tandem with its like flexy sexy brother has the best screen on the market. They also use less energy as they run on a small die process compared to the Snapdragon 810 or Kirin 935 (admittedly the latter is more subjective); Ergo it uses less energy as @AlanWarric alluded to. Lack of expandable storage may be an issue, although it does come start at 32GB and upwards. The problem with the Z5 is that some of the features are sadly lacking. 1080p screen, considering the rest of the market (Android wise) has moved to at least 2k in there flagships. Yes the Z5 premium is 4K, in realityit will likely be too expensive for most people to buy. When you compare the Z5 in its own right, it fails in comparison to the likes of LG G4, Samsung S6, Mi Note Pro, HTC One M9+ I could go on. If you want a phone that is swift with updates go with LG, they are way and above the fastest to release new software which has a skin run on top. Those that use stock android like are usually quicker. Mind saying this, two new nexus devices are due to be launched on 29th, large and small will be catered for. |

In normal day to day use is there a noticeable difference between a 64Gb phone versus a 32Gb+32Gb SD phone ?

There is a certain level of pointlessness in every device, aethetics the most prized asset for some. Everything is a compromise in some way, so you have to go the way of your own least compromise.

Now you see I have asked myself that question and its left me feeling a bit "meh". I bought it in the white a few months ago and generally loving the slim profile. The curved edge is crap, software doesn't really take advantage over it, its purely a gimmick. I think the standard S6 looks nice, I am quite boring in that way, S6 looks like a very polished device, where as S6 Edge is the same but charges on average £100 more.

Yes, the Z5 line including the compact looks like a strong lineup to me. I hope Sony makes some progress this time around, they make some decent handsets, but always seem to get overlooked.
Only drawback for me is that they don't use Amoled. I'm still using the original Sony Xperia Z from 2013 & whilst everyone I know either has a Samsung S whatever, an Apple iPhone "number", or an HTC One, none seemed to have gone down the Sony route despite the excellence of their products. My original Z still works perfectly & has not slowed down one iota. The battery life is still good & although I am eligible for an upgrade, I just don't see the point in doing so, as I can't be bothered with all the reinstalling of Apps etc. |

It took a while for me to actually see the edge in the flesh and I was disappointed that the curved screen didn't actually go to the edge, and that there appears to be very little use for it. The phone does look nice. |

I would personally wait until the rumoured Sony Xperia Z6 Ultra is released next spring - the cellular capabilities and less aggressive throttling of the Snapdragon 820 and the supposed 4GB RAM would make it preferable to the Snapdragon 810 and 3GB RAM of the Google / Huawei Nexus 6P, let alone the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Premium.

No, generally the phone will save photos and videos to the SD card anyway, leaving the onboard storage for applications.

And when Android M appears, there will be no practical difference between the two options.

I like my z3c more than any phone previously (mostly because of the battery life) but the thing that puts me off another Sony is the lack of support for new network features (not really Sony's fault) like wifi calling and VoLTE.
I really hope that the networks start to update Sony phones for these features, but I've heard no rumors that they intend to. |

That is an interesting observation that I agree with.
