And that is a fact.

The Lucy storyline kept viewers gripped for 10 months.

This tosh with Callum has been boring people all year round, right at the start.

ITV probably gave Corrie the honour as they believe they will defeat EastEnders, but it won't happen. Emmerdale should have been given more attention, but Corrie is like the golden child of the family.

Is it expected to?

You're right about one thing though, ED is the jewel in ITV's crown soap wise to me yet for some reason Corrie is put on a pedestal! Corrie isn't the soap it used to be, it has no characters in it that I can imagine people talking about years later as we do with the likes of Elsie, Ena, Annie, even Jack and Vera etc. It's lost it's way at the moment but I'm optimistic that once it gets rid of the current shower in charge it could rise again like a phoenix! But no, I'm not expecting much from the live show.

I don't think you can compare the two, one was for a show's 30th anniversary and the other isn't. Personally I'll take the Platts Vs Callum over a murder mystery that takes 2 years to solve.

There are some cases that take longer. More realistic than camp panto gangsters swaggering around.

Corrie has been a load of shite lately IMO.

It's a shame, as I really enjoyed the show again from fire week to Deirdres funeral, but I just can't take this Callum storyline seriously. It's comical, if anything.

You can't really compare the two, as they're being celebrated very differently, but EastEnders LIVE, was one of the best weeks on soaps, since they began. The fact it received so much attention, and viewers in 2015, as soaps are becoming more and more unpopular, is fantastic... I don't think Corrie will top that, in fact nowhere near. What's coming up looks rubbish, but we can't fully judge until we've seen it. I do think they really need to up their game if they want to make this a success though. I'm more looking forward to the Tim/Sally/Kevin stuff, than this Callum tripe.

Well, I don't even watch Corrie but I did tune into the last live episode for the show on Tram Crash week and that did pretty damn well. So this one's got a lot to live up too, but I'm sure it'll do good.

As for EastEnders, that live episode in February was just phenomenal. I wouldn't say Corrie won't beat it though, you can be very surprised. I'm very confused with these "Run!" trailers and have no idea how the episode will play out, but I'm still willing to watch.

The Lucy Beale whodunnit storyline was great in my opinion, murders aren't something that can be solved the following week, so to play it out for how long it did and to explode the truth on live week was remarkable, hands down one of the best live episodes for a soap ever.

So I'm not one for competition, I can't say something will beat something unless I've seen it, but good luck to Corrie.

Oh look, another 'my soap is better than your soap' thread. Just what this forum needs.

Seriously thinking about quitting this place until we get subforums.

I agree. The OP's 'it's a fact' is nonsense. The live episode hasn't been broadcast yet, it could blow EE live out of the water, highly unlikely I know but it could.

There's no facts at this time, only the OP's assumptions and there's a world of difference.

Unfortunately sub-forums won't stop it, some saddos would go into a rival soap's forum just to antagonise.

BIB: So true and a lot of murders never get solved. I just don't understand why so many people moan about it going on so long.

It's the current way of thinking, when I was just a lad it would take about twenty minutes for my Commodore 64 to load. nowadays we all get impatient if it takes more than 3 seconds for a page to load!

Everything has to be done quickly and we are getting more impatient and lazy as a race

The Lucy storyline was a massive pile of turgid nonsense! Eastenders has been brilliant at times - but please don't hold up that storyline as an example of its excellence.

I agree with you that the Callum storyline has been a bit of a bore - but some of Corrie's other 'pedestrian' storylines have been more gripping than the EE Lucy one.
