I have a Sony CMT-EP30 micro HiFi which is about 3 years old and has developed a fault (the fault started a while ago but is worse now). Whenever I switch it on either with the remote or the units power button it imediatley switches itself off again and acts as if ive unpluged it (i have to re-set the clock, music setings etc.) this is very anoying and i can't afford a new HiFi at the moment, does anyone have any ideas on whats causing it to do this and how to fix it? thanks for any ideas

after closer inspection of what happens when it switches itself off ompared to when it comes on normally is that the backlight in the lcd screen does not come on when it switches itself off but when it comes on normally it comes on instantly. So it must be something to do with the backlight for the lcd, there is a thunderbug in there maybe its chewed through a wire
