I'm afraid that it is typical for Americans to tell me that they kicked my @$$ in 1776 and saved my @$$ in WW2.

I'm surprised you know people who were alive in 1776! WW2, maybe.

Wow I can't believe people are talking about the war over a CBB task.
I don't know if I missed a twist but I have a feeling this task will be turned on its head and will benefit the Americans rather than the Brits.

As for Brits hating Americans, well that is just not true. Sure we poke fun sometimes and we generalise just as the Americans do with us. Most people I know like Americans and love visiting their country.
My ex boyfriend ( now my best friend) is from Texas & loves coming over to the UK as he says the British always make him feel so welcome.

It stinks to high heaven.”

They should've brought some Z-level Irish celebs in to serve both

Well this thread kind of answers its own question, doesn't it?

A discussion about BB turns into a debate about the relative greatness (but really the relative lack of graciousness) of the UK and the US.

By the by, I've read plenty of stories about UK football hooligans screaming at opposing fans on the Continent about how 'we' (we - if you don't mind) saved 'your' asses in WWII.

There are ignoramuses on both sides of the Atlantic and everywhere else. My grandfather and two grand-uncles fought at the Somme. I'm not suggesting that 'I' saved anyone from anything.

Back to BB. Think of the mentality of picking Gail, Chloe and Sherrie as an example of British women and Jenna, Farrah and Janice as an example of US women. Seriously. Think about it. What do you think they were hoping to achieve and whip up, eh?

What's the problem with it? I'm not sure of the complaint.

This is so true and I really don't understand why. For some unfathomable reason many (not all) Americans are in awe of the Brits, who are so up themselves that they actually do believe that they are worthy of that awe.

This CBB is certainly pandering to that mistaken feeling of superiority that the Brits have simply by the type of so-called American celebrities that they have in the show. Although I do believe that any genuine American celebrity would not take part in a UK CBB anymore, so C5 are really scraping the barrel now. Even Daniel Baldwin, who is probably more of a celebrity than the rest of the USA contingent in there, is the least famous of the Baldwin brothers.

Gail, Chloe and Sherrie aren't exactly the best examples of British women, I guess

I can totally see why Jenna's annoyed. As for why the Americans have been chosen to be the servants, it's simple - more explosions. The likes of Sherrie, Gail and Burnside would knuckle down and do their duties drama free. Making Janice, Farrah and Jenna honoury servants is a recipe for disaster - which is, of course, exactly what the producers want.

I seriously doubt Jenna would be complaining about unfairness if the shoe were on the other foot.

She's looking after number one, nothing more.

don't forget, both the UK and the US more-or-less saved the Irish a$$es in WWII

The British USA theme is only a bit of rivalry and nothing more. The Brits are the royal family but BB is not all what it seems and the Americans have the power to win the task. I like this task and like to see it play out.

Looks like the Political Forum doesn't it, and if the fms keep talking in same vein, the Mods will lock this thread, and others like it.

This is the BB forum, and not what happened or didn't in WW2! WW2 wasn't a game, but BB is!...and time for everyone to lighten up!

I agree BB is supposed to be a game but the producers seem intent on turning it into an ugly nationalistic contest.

I knew right from the beginning this choice if theme was a mistake. In fact why does there even have to be a theme at all?. The HMs should create their own theme

You're right re what the Producers wanted, and it's come to pass, but I'd rather the HMs trashed it out amongst themselves, and not the fms here, as it leaves a bad taste.

However, don't think BB would have turned ugly had the Producers chosen HMs with some brain who would discuss situations, which would have been a more interesting show than it has become. The US HMs aren't happy with their lot, which is obvious to see during H/Ls, but during LF all the HMs get on well enough and have laughs, which is sadly lacking in the H/Ls. Maybe it's an intent, to show US HMs in a bad light, while the UK HMs are dull, and that Royal Task was an attempt to cause mischief, with people taking sides.

But you know, I've never, in all the years of watching BB, taken a side, that one nation was better than the other, and always gauged how each HM was regardless of nationality. To me that Royal task was cringeworthy, and more of a farce, and even Paul over-played his hand. Had the producers chosen a nomal type of US HM, I think being a servant would have been a game to them, and might have had fun as well. What do you think?

It's just typical celebs being primadonnas because they're not used to doing things for anyone but themselves. ”

I fear your voice of reason and sensibility will be lost on here

I can't believe people are taking it so seriously and trying to make it in to some big agenda that it isn't.

I think it might be because Bobby won that task thing tbf, that was only 6 days ago now so I assumed they were just reaping the benefits.

I think a lot of us do but I think that will actually advantage the Ameticans if some British housemates actually run with the theme and decide to take it seriously.

The problem with your assessment, is that she hasn't anything to lose or even win, and not as if her life's at stake. She must know BB will never starve them, so why fuss about it. Got to be more to it, I reckon.

Personally I think it should have been done at random with a mixture of UK/USA royals, or more interestingly put a twist on the task and made all the Americans royals... Seeing as they did win the last task.
The Americans seem to have had a raw deal all the way through so far . Considering they are making the show I don't think it's particularly fair . As loathesome as some of them are RE Farrah”

I agree with this & Jenna Nominations was also right & fair in my opinion!

The American's are again bringing everything they can to this show & I love them for that,
British housemates again are sat back riding the show out until the final boring as per usual, If I was bb I would skip the British & just use American housemates!

That's the madness and glory of BB. Throws up all kinds of weird topics and debates. The great chicken debates still being the best for me.
