I think the 90s song from American R&B band does.

What shows do you mean? The variety shows I saw occasionally had the pop groups/artists of the day on, but variety shows were big in the 1960s and 1970s so obviously the music would be of that time, and that track is not retro sounding enough for that.

I mean the song that the old fashioned family entertainer who can sing and dance. I also mean variety shows like Sunday Night at the London Palladium and The Royal Variety Peformance.

Maybe if Stevie Wonder or Luther Vandross was playing on such a show.

It sounds like weakly accompanied Stevie Wonder to me.

I honestly have no idea what that thread title is supposed to mean. It's practically unreadable.

What does that have to do with the song you posted? It's not good enough or the right style for those entertainers to have sung.

Istm the OP reckons the Blackstreet song sounds like something you would've heard on those variety shows from years ago.

Basically, it sounds old fashioned (not retro )

It doesn't sound old fashioned at all and is not the sort of song they sang. I am old enough to have actually watched those shows!
