EE: Ray Winstone should have played Gavin
I think Paul Nicholas is a good actor and probably will make a good Gavin but I can't help thinking that Ray Winstone should have played him. Winstone is a true Cockney, he would be a match for Phil and he's the same age as Gillian Taylforth so would be a credible person for the role. I also think it would have been nice to sprinkle a bit of stardust on the show.

I would have liked Jack Ellis after his portrayal of Jim Fenner.

There is already a thread on Ray Winstone and whether he should join the Eastenders cast. It might be better just to add to that one. I would hate to see Phil Mitchell push around a character played by Ray Winstone so I don't think he should join unless or until Phil is either jailed for life, killed off or a broken man. Jack Ellis would be a good addition to Eastenders I agree. |

Probably wouldn't be able to afford him and I remember when his name was mentioned last time for Archie and it said he rather play there (Ronnie and Roxy) bloke.
Paul Nicholas reminds me a bit of Den, they don't actually look to dissimilar in build. |

Casting Ray Winstone in a villian role is too obvious.

Terry Stone
I'd like to see Terry Stone get a full time part in Eastenders. He has been in crime movies as villains and a corrupt detective plus he appeared as a doorman once in Eastenders. He has a London / south east accent and would make a great villain.

Good comment. I think too that if he played a cop it would be the same. What would you like to see him as in Eastenders?

I think Ray does just enough work to live comfortably and enjoys time on the sofa/with the family.

Letitia Dean wants Ray Winstone in EastEnders. |

Ray Winstone would be the best Eastenders casting probably ever, the fact he's genuine cockney makes it even better.
But as someone said would Ray want to do it? Even now when he's knocking on a bit he's still surely getting better offers that wouldn't demand such a punishing filming schedule, he can't need the money with all the film credits next to his name. I could see him doing maybe a short-term character or a cameo in Eastenders when he's a bit older and the rest of his work is starting to dry up. Was discussing with the missus what character he should play if he ever did join Enders, we came up with Buster's brother(Micks Uncle), think those two as bros would be great. |
