She took babies off girls and gave them away in the 70's

Question is, do we actually care? Is there any relevance to current storylines? Whats the point?

When Tina first found the photo album of the young girls did anyone else have the thought that Babe was some sort of Myra Hindley type in the 70's? :O I thought they were going down a VERY dark route for a second!

It's a storyline which will have an impact on the Carter family, just because you 'don't care' doesn't mean others don't either.

I did think for it being a big secret, it doesnt seem to have much scope outside how the carters view Babe (Which isnt favorably anyway), but there could be more tomorrow

We do care! This is an excellent storyline. There was always something so off about Babe and this explains that 'offness' really well. I absolutely detested Babe in her previous stint, but now I can tell this storyline is going to make me warm up to her and wish she was kept as an EE regular. This storyline is so sinister, so perfect for her. It reminds me of Vera Drake. Christ, that movie made me feel so wrong about life. I can tell this storyline with Babe is going to have the exact same effect. I'm looking forward to it.

I've seen that one, my overriding memory about it though is how her daughter hardly ever spoke.

So was this a big thing in the late seventies? I wouldn't have thought there would have been much call for baby buying.

Sounds like she was a baby 'farmer' - a common but underground method of adopting out unwanted or illegitimate babies in Victorian times.

With the selling and purchasing of babies, urgh I hated typing that, how would a couple explain where they got the child and how for the law's eyes? I'm assuming they fabricated adoption papers or what not.

Denise also mentioned not knowing who her father was tonight. There seems to be a lot of unknown child/father stories at the moment

So Cora, a woman who had to give her baby up is told that Babe was part of a black market adoption ring. You can see why Cora then went off the rails, becoming homeless and turning to drink.

I wonder if this gets explored more.

That's nothing new though, Denise has never known her father. What's odd is that she was so touchy about Vincent getting a record for the five hectors. I mean Patrick talks about them all the time and she never bats an eyelid.

Were they giving them away or selling them? Either way, it's pretty dark!

She and Queenie found kids good homes.

Makes you wonder why Queenie kept Heather
