Could this all have some relevance to Stacey's Key

Maybe it'll turn out Heather was really Sylvies, but Babe sold her for profit to Queenie, hence why Queenie never felt much love towards her. Shirley finds out her best friend all those years was her sister.

I'd guess the big reveal is that Babe is still doing it, preying on young teenage girls who fall pregnant and encouraging them to give up their kids so she can sell them on for profit to well-to-do couples for whom IVF hasn't worked.

I think Babe and Queenie manipulated the young mothers into selling their babies and planned to sell Mick too.

Is there any relevance to current storylines?

To be fair that could be said any time backstory is touched upon with any character.

It affects Mick and Shirley who are current characters. OK they already have an idea of what Babe is like but I'm sure they didn't imagine she was this twisted.

If my theory is right about them selling the babies and manipulating the young mothers into giving them up then I think they still are going down a very dark route.

I thought it was going to be worse than selling off babies. I thought they might have been backstreet (or caravan) abortionists.

Babe always seemed really sinister to me - she's got a very evil streak. She reminds me of a League of Gentlemen character.

Babe is a great character

I think it is relevent. It affects both Mick/Shirley and gives us more of a picture of Babe. I'm interested to see where this story goes and how Babe explains it tonight. It would be great if Queenie appeared at some point. The reactions of Mick, Tina and Shirley will also be interesting.

Does this mean Hev knew about Mick?

If the theory above about Babe and Queenie manipulating and preying on pregnant girls and the selling their babies is correct then that is pretty shocking. Especially as that would mean she considered doing that to her own niece...

Babe is a brilliant character.

It makes me wonder if Babe and Queenie have a connection with Kat. Kat had two babies but only recalls having one and of course she has a long lost son out there she hasn't a clue exists. Were Babe and Queenie the ones who sold off Kat's son?. Maybe Kat's mum somehow got hold of Babe and Queenie and gave them Kat's son to give to another family because the thought of dealing with two children was too much to bear.

It was an underwhelming flop like the rest of the Carter secrets.

On the plus side I'm starting to enjoy Shirley again.

Could Sharon be one of these kids? She's about 5 or 6 years older than Mick, so possibly within the timeframe when this was going on.

Question is, do we actually care? Is there any relevance to current storylines? Whats the point?”

Personally I could not care less. I wish she would just bugger off and never come back, I cannot stand the sight of her.

Babe is a very interesting and complex character. I hope she sticks around as continues to be a love-to-hate role. My only problem is we have Pam, Dot, Claudette, Carmel, Babe, Cora, Elaine and Slyvie apparently returning. And Patrick and Les as tbe only Males i. Their age group and Bobby pretty much the only child from 8-19 who is actually used and late teens gone altogether.

That could be a big thing for the whole square. Sharon is searching for her dad, Kat has a lost son, we have Donna for example. I don't think that the storys are all connected, but it could be a huge shock for many people.

11 years older if Sharon's age is the same as Letita's.

Carmel and Dot are not in the same age category!

Carmel is more in the Masood and Shirley age group.

Phil fits more into the geriatric age band.

Sharon is supposed to be 45 in the show (A couple of years younger than Letitia.) While Mick is 39-ish.

Yeah it's about adding depth to the characters. What Shirley went through as a teenager shaped the person she is today, it's shedding further light on that.

I think Babe and Queenie manipulated the girls into giving up their babies which they then sold. I posted my earlier post about the girls being manipulated into selling their babies in a hurry. I don't think the girls knew their babies were going to be sold, although it's possible they did and Queenie and Babe took a cut from it.

I think it's a great twist and I can believe it of both Queenie and Babe.

Maybe I missed something but was Mick kept as he was a boy. Did they only sell girls?

No. Mick was going to be sold to an older couple but Babe changed her mind and told them the baby died at birth. I suppose Babe changed her mind because the thought of selling off her own Nephew was too much to bear.

Cora needs to be brought into this storyline as she knows more about Babe's secret through Stan.

I originally thought Cora would come back to spill the beans over the secret, but with the secret out and Cora going a bit doo-lally, i can't see it working now.

Unfortunately I think Cora will become involved in this storyline when they get back to the square. I can't stand her.

I would love for Sharon to be involved in some way as well.

As for the story being relevant - I think it will be in that it will have affected more characters than we realise at the moment, and certainly out with the Carter clan,
