Something needs to be done about it really, the constant clashes are badly affecting the ratings of both soap's. Why itv cant split the hour long emmerdale episodes to two half hours (at 7:00 and then again at 8:00), you would probably then see an increase in the viewership of both shows on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Emmerdale is excellent at the min, but then so is eastenders IMO. People should be able to watch both of them live on TV, since quality wise, they are both head and shoulders above all the other soaps right now.

As an ED fan, I would rather an hour of the show than having to wait half an hour for the second episode.

I watch ED with my family (who happen to watch EE as well), and they would rather watch Emmerdale at the moment. It can have it's doom and gloom but it can also make you laugh, Eastenders doesn't make you laugh.

Alternatively the schedule could be for ITV;

Tuesday:
7pm Emmerdale
7:30 River Monsters
8:00 Emmerdale
8:30 Flockstars

Thursday
7pm Emmerdale
7:30 Real Stories with Ranvir Singh
8:00 Emmerdale
8:30 Coronation Street

And after these clashes, ITV have the cheek to ask the BBC to not schedule Strictly with the X Factor.

I don't see the point of flockstars, Its a load of rubbish, I would drop it not move it till tuesday

Itv are just getting the episodes in so they dont fall behind when the rugby starts
having ED at 8 on a tuesday wouldn't help anyway holby is on, I would put Corrie there and ED 7-7:30 and 8-9 on thursday

I like the hour long episodes on ED rather than the usual split but I might be in the minority. I rarely watch EE these days but clashes and overlaps shouldn't really matter as there's so many alternative ways of watching. Personally, I use the +1 channels a lot, not just soaps, and wish BBC had this facility.

Thats true, i have tended to stick with Ed then catch up iplayer. Sometimes i do the opposite and watch bbc and then either watch on plus one or tape the early morning replay.

Would be better if the itv player was decent and had no ads!

Tragically, I have been known to watch ED twice on the same night using +1 and even a bit more on ITV2 at the weekend!

The Clash is not down to Emmerdale, it is down to Coronation Street. ITV are moving Emmerdale around to suit Coronation Street. All ITV need to do, is continue the 7 and 8 o'clock Emmerdale episodes and put coronation Street on at 8.30, but ITV seem to favour Coronation Street, so won't be bothered if Emmerdale suffer with a clash.

I'm with you - I prefer ED to be an hour long instead of the usual split which I find annoying and have never seen the point of.

Will you record Emmerdale the week beginning the 14th because there is lots of stuff happening that week with Max's trial, Kathy's return, Lee's depression and Lauren's return.

Spot on. There was nothing wrong with ED being on at 7 & 8 on a Thursday, God knows why they've shoved a totally unneeded episode of CS in . The quality of CS barely deems it worthy of the five episodes it usually gets, the very last thing it needs is another shoehorned in so even more crap filler, bad acting and contrived repeated storylines can be shown . If they really need to move CS to a slot more suitable for its current self , 3am on ITV2 would be the most appropriate.

The BBC should seriously consider moving EE to avoid these clashes which has become a pretty permanent thing now.

Why should they? eastenders has been on that slot for 30 years. ITV should move emmerdale and it necessary to have 6 episode as well that too much.

Not everyone watches EastEnders and those who watch both are entitled to watch what they want, when they want.

And?

I gave up watching EE in 2011 and will never watch it again. Like I said as Emmerdale has more comedy and light-hearted drama, my family will stick with ED in any clashes.

Itv are just trying to dent eastenders figures so people andvthe press focus on that and not how most of itvs primetime shows have fallen below 2 million lately.

I think it's to do with getting a bit ahead with CS in particular because of the Rugby World Cup later on so they're showing extra episodes now.
