CS Hope
I know the character is supposed to be quiet and seem ill but I think she is a bad child actor she doesn't seem to speak at all (rather like the old Amy in EE) and if she has quite a big storyline so maybe they should have had a recast? She just seems to sit on Tyrone or Fizz's lap, Ruby even seems a bit more outgoing. She doesn't seemed to have changed from before she was ill. What are people's opinions on Hope? Is she the right character for the storyline?

I suppose the storyline is more about Fizz and Tyrone and the majority of the focus will be on them.

And also like the old (young) Amy in Corrie; she didn't speak for what seemed like years. Then she went away for a bit, and reappeared with a new head. Now getting her to stop is the problem.

Yes, I think Hope may well receive a new head at some point once some proper acting is required. The girl playing her at the moment is obviously still very young but she doesn't appear to be all that comfortable on set. She looked very reserved in her scenes with Roy last night.

I don't get why they force children into these scenes when they clearly look uncomfortable and would rather be somewhere else. Same with the boy who plays Kevin's son Jack. Really irresponsible, there must be children who will do better and feel more comfortable with the actors.

She really looks like she doesn't want to be there and isn't enjoying "the game" or "pretend". She doesn't look happy about it all at all. I did look for this thread, if there wasn't one I was going to make one as it really bothers me that the little girl looks like she'd rather be anywhere else than there on set.

The producers probably prefer quiet children who will just sit there rather than ruin takes with unexpected chat.
Hope is a quiet child, Ruby, however, seems a bright little spark. |

The little girl is supposed to be very ill. She has been having stomach pains. If she was smiling and chattering on, people would say how unrealistic it was, as she should be quite and have a pained expression on her face.

Or maybe she's still traumatised from spending 9 months in the corrie kids cupboard whilst Fiz was away! |

Whether the little girl can act is not what bothers me. What I find upsetting is the cancer she is supposed to have is apparently neuroblastoma which has an appalling survival rate and this little mite is going to be exposed to some dreadful scenes if the story line is done properly. I don't understand how her parents can want to see their child going through all this.

Tbh, if she didn't want to do it, like any kid, she'd be throwing tantrums at home, stamping her feet and refusing to cooperate with the crew and cast. I really don't think either her parents or the production team would force her into it on that basis. They're not exactly stuffing her up a chimney.

I suppose you do have a good point putting it like that. I think the happiest child on soap is the little girl who plays April on Emmerdale. The way she cheered to herself over getting more ice cream from Harriet was brilliant! She's a better actress than some of the adults on soaps. The girl who plays Amelia is also very good and looks like she's enjoying herself
![]() She just seems a typical kid of that age, who rarely appears to be acting at all, but kudos to her for being able to remember all her (many) lines and making them believable. No mean feat for a kid that age.

As far as I can remember she has always been quiet. I don't think it has anything to do with the storyline. The young girl just does not seem comfortable within that environment.
