Will Gavin is hosting the tennis on talksport2. I get the impression it's not his main sport.

Seems to be their own coverage (and the ATP event only for commentary). Commentators are the superb Chris Bowers and Chris Wilkinson.

Edit coverage is provided by the Tennis Radio Network which I think is run by Chris Bowers. Bowers has been saying the coverage is on talkSPORT2 but there hasn't been interaction between comms and studio so far. They've been going back to studio at change of ends and rejoined commentary mid sentence first time round.

Be interested to know if Bowers and Wilkinson go all night or if anyone else is used.

Edit 2 Chris Bowers said the third voice of the night will be Joe Shennan(sp?) . Not a name I know.

Thanks for the information you've posted Shaun. I got the impression from Chris Bowers' opening link that he and Chris Wilkinson would be providing commentary through the night, although like you I've noticed that the junctures between he and Will Gavin (who you may know from Absolute Radio 90s and BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra's NFL coverage - I think that, as well as [association] football, are his main sports) haven't always been the cleanest.

Joe Shennan is BBC Radio Derby's Burton Albion commentator, who in recent seasons has also commentated on Premier League and Bundesliga games for the talkSPORT Live international radio service - coverage of the latter league is also available in the UK via TuneIn (if you are a subscriber). I'm guessing he's studio-based and will be providing updates on non-commentary games - I think Will mentioned at one point that they'll be taking updates (rather than commentary) on Johanna Konta's match, so I guess he'll be keeping on top of that.

Edit: Scratch that, at the end of the Nadal game Bowers said it'll be Shennan and Wilkinson commentating together on the next game, which perhaps might be the one involving Konta but will be a commentary. Given that Shennan was at Burton v Fleetwood the other day, I'd be surprised if this commentary was an on-site job. I believe Shennan regularly commentates on the tennis that is screened on bookmakers' websites via the Perform Group, so he's not a novice when it comes to covering the sport.

*Rugby-League.com has listed talkSPORT 2 as covering Wigan Warriors v Hull Kingston Rovers on Easter Monday, so I'm guessing that you're looking at FL72 Review (the only magazine programme listed for the previous Monday that's not in this schedule) from 6pm and then Super League Live from 7pm.

A few things to note - the reason why there's no Aviva Premiership rugby union on Good Friday is because there's no fixture that night, although having an Easter Saturday double header more than makes up for it. They can have a double header that day as coverage of the Sri Lanka v England World Twenty20 match has been shifted over to the main talkSPORT station, with Ian Danter set to host Matchday Live from 1pm on there.

The Matchday Live Football League show on Good Friday will directly follow that day's League One and Two matchround. It's an international break, but there are league fixtures on Friday and Monday - although only a handful on Saturday, hence why the England cricket can be transplanted onto talkSPORT. It'll be interesting to hear what that show covers and if they'll be a regular slot for Football League coverage on Fridays.

The Germany v England review in the early hours of Easter Sunday morning will be taken from talkSPORT's live commentary on that international match. If you're wondering why the start times for the cricket have been pushed back by an hour later that day, it's because GMT will have become BST overnight. The Super 10s stage of the World Twenty20 comes to an end on Easter Monday, the semi-finals take place on the Wednesday and Thursday with the final on Sunday 3rd April - all starting at 2.30pm BST. I expect we'll get a better feel of how talkSPORT 2 will regularly fill their weekday daytime hours and structure their schedule from next month onwards.

joe shennan did a great job commentating on the tennis with Chris Wilkinson for the Djokovic match I listened to the end of. He wasn't a name I was familiar with, so thanks Diff for filling in the gaps! It seems TS2 only have rites to the men's event-- their pre launch did say 'masters series tennis' which means they have s similar deal to the one Sky have where at these joint events they only broadcast men's matches and BT I believe it is have the rites to the women's side of things. Its a good set-up as it means there will often be a choice of matches to listen to across 5LSX and TS2. I guess later in the year if they cover the masters series events in Europe, that could fill quite a lot of the day time schedules for them.

The tennis is being hosted by Daniel Windle tonight with Catherine Whitaker and Nick Lester commentating.

Nick has tweeted that talkSPORT2 will have commentary on all the masters series events and journalist Mike Dickson has tweeted that the deal includes the season ending World Tour Finals.

talkSPORT 2

Tuesday 15th to Friday 18th March

Ian Danter presented the Cheltenham Festival Late Breakfast (Tuesday only) and Cheltenham Review alongside Rupert Bell and Lee McKenzie from Cheltenham Racecourse

During the afternoon racing, Bell commentated on featured races for the main talkSPORT station, while Danter and McKenzie updated talkSPORT 2 listeners during breaks in play in their live World Twenty20 cricket coverage.

Tuesday 15th to Sunday 20th March

ATP Masters Series Tennis Live presented by Will Gavin (Tue and Sun), Dan Windle (Wed, Thurs and Sat) and Lisa O'Sullivan (Fri)

Tennis: BNP Paribas Open
Indian Wells Tennis Garden, California - commentary on the ATP event provided by the Tennis Radio Network

Their nightly commentary teams were:

Tuesday - Chris Bowers, Chris Wilkinson and Joe Shennan
Wednesday - Nick Lester, Catherine Whitaker and Peter Odgers
Thursday - Joe Shennan, Naomi Cavaday and Catherine Whitaker
Friday - Catherine Whitaker, Naomi Cavaday and Joe Shennan
Saturday (Men's Singles Semi-Finals) - Chris Bowers and Naomi Cavaday
Sunday (Men's Singles Final: Novak Djokovic v Milos Raonic) - Catherine Whitaker and Nick Lester

Their coverage from Indian Wells primarily focused on the men's singles competition (I don't believe they hold rights to events from the women's WTA tour, despite the heavy female presence in their coverage team), although they did provide commentary on one of the men's doubles matches involving Jamie Murray on Thursday. With the station launching on Tuesday 15th March and the BNP Paribas Open beginning on Wednesday 9th March, for obvious reasons talkSPORT 2 missed the first six days of the tournament - including Andy Murray's run in it.

Thursday 17th March

Mark Wilson presented Super League Live from the DW Stadium

Rugby League: Super League
Wigan Warriors v Widnes Vikings - Mark Wilson and Iestyn Harris (8pm commentary)

Friday 18th March

Andrew McKenna presented Aviva Premiership Live from the Recreation Ground

Rugby Union: Premiership
Bath v Newcastle Falcons - Andrew McKenna and David Flatman (7.45pm commentary)

I've decided to update talkSPORT 2's non-football commentary and reporting details on a weekly basis, as opposed to how I recap talkSPORT's details on a monthly basis in this thread. However, I've decided to chart talkSPORT 2's coverage of the World Twenty20 separately, the first post of which is to follow...

Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 Group 2
India v Bangladesh - Roshan Abeysinghe, Barry Wilkinson, Sunil Gavaskar and Sardar Singh (2pm GMT commentary)

Sardar Singh is the captain of India's Olympic hockey team and was a special guest in the commentary box this afternoon. Cricket Radio have two main commentary pairings - these being Roshan Abeysinghe and Barry Wilkinson; Brian Murgatroyd and Sikander Bakht - but they have also used a number of guest ex-professional summarisers representing most of the countries remaining in the competition, many of whom are dividing their time also working for the television international feed and BBC Radio's Test Match Special.

At talkSPORT 2's end, while Andrew McKenna, Tom Macleod, Russell Hargreaves, Ray Stubbs and Ian Danter have shared the presenting duties, the station's cricket correspondent Jon Norman has joined them as a studio pundit for most matches - the exceptions being the England games, which he's reported on for the main talkSPORT station, and Saturday's India v Pakistan fixture, which was broadcast as part of Matchday Live 2, which when not taking cricket commentary was busy updating the afternoon's football scores. This Saturday, coverage of Sri Lanka v England shifts over to talkSPORT - Matt Smith is scheduled to host with Ian Danter and Alex Tudor due to join him.

WGC Dell World Match Play Golf Live presented by Dan Windle (Wed and Thurs), Lisa O'Sullivan (Fri), Russell Hargreaves (Sat and Sun) and Will Gavin (Sat and Sun) with Bob Bubka providing analysis from Austin (Wed and Sun)

Golf: WGC Dell World Match Play
Austin Country Club, Austin, Texas - Earl Forcey, Fred Albers, Doug Bell, Luke Elvy and Phil Tataurangi (commentary, as PGA TOUR Radio)

The PGA TOUR Radio coverage was anchored by Earl Forcey, with Phil Tataurangi being their ex-professional golfer analyst. The other three mentioned were out on the course for spells of commentary and to conduct interviews. It was the same team throughout the week.

At talkSPORT 2's end, coverage ran between 6pm until the close on Wednesday (with very minimal continuity from Andrew McKenna in the first hour and Mike Bovill during the second hour), from 10pm on Thursday and from 7pm on Friday. Saturday's coverage ran from 2-5pm before stopping for rugby union commentary and then resumed at 7.30pm. Likewise on Sunday, they had commentary on the final half hour or so of the semi-finals after the cricket from 6.30pm, there was then a break between 7-8pm (during which we heard from Bob Bubka), before coverage of the final was carried uninterrupted from 8pm. For both weekend sessions, Russell Hargreaves fronted the afternoon and early evening coverage before Will Gavin picked up the reigns (probably at some point after 8pm each day).

Thursday 24th March

Mark Wilson presented Super League Live from the Jungle

Rugby League: Super League
Castleford Tigers v Leeds Rhinos - Mark Wilson and Danny Kirmond (8pm commentary)

Saturday 26th March

Russell Hargreaves presented Matchday Live 2

Rugby Union: Premiership
Gloucester v Bath - Andrew McKenna and Mike Tindall (5.30pm commentary)

Monday 28th March

Mark Wilson presented Super League Live from the DW Stadium

Rugby League: Super League
Wigan Warriors v Hull Kingston Rovers - Mark Wilson and Iestyn Harris (8pm commentary)

Coverage of the ATP event at the Miami Open tennis has just begun this week. I will post full details recapping the whole event at some point next week, but so far there's been coverage of Andy Murray's game on Saturday night/Sunday morning, no coverage during Easter Sunday "proper" before Easter Monday coverage between 6-8pm and 9.45pm until the early hours. Will Gavin linked both the late sessions, while Ray Stubbs hosted today's early evening coverage. The commentary is coming once again from the Tennis Radio Network - from Chris Bowers and Chris Dennis on Sunday morning and from Simon Cambers, Naomi Cavaday and Catherine Whitaker today.

Details of talkSPORT 2's commentaries on the rest of the ICC World Twenty20 Super 10s stage is to follow...

talkSPORT 2 - ICC World Twenty20 India 2016, Super 10s stage

International audio service Cricket Radio continued to provide talkSPORT 2 with official on-site commentaries, although talkSPORT produced their own commentary on Saturday's England v Sri Lanka match.

Friday 25th March

Russell Hargreaves (early match) and Ian Danter (late game) presented World Twenty20 Live with Jon Norman

Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 Group 2
Pakistan v Australia - Brian Murgatroyd, Sikander Bakht, Brendon Julian, Brett Lee and Tom Moody (9.30am GMT commentary)

Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 Group 1

Saturday 26th March

Jon Norman presented World Twenty20 Live

Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 Group 2
Bangladesh v New Zealand - Brian Murgatroyd, Sikander Bakht and Pommie Mbangwa (9.30am GMT commentary)

Live coverage then continued from 1pm on talkSPORT, with recorded highlights later broadcast on talkSPORT 2...

Matt Smith presented World Twenty20 Live alongside Vikram Solanki

Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 Group 1
England v Sri Lanka - Ian Danter and Alex Tudor, with Vikram Solanki providing in-game analysis (2pm GMT commentary)

This commentary was done very much in the football style, with their lead and co-commentator working throughout the 40 overs, plus occasional comments from the studio pundit. Cricket Radio's commentary team at England v Sri Lanka was Roshan Abeysinghe, Barry Wilkinson and Russell Arnold.

Sunday 27th March

Ray Stubbs (early match) and Russell Hargreaves (late game) presented World Twenty20 Live

Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 Group 1
West Indies v Afghanistan - Roshan Abeysinghe, Barry Wilkinson, Sir Clive Lloyd and Dave Cameron (10.30am BST commentary)

Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 Group 2
India v Australia - Brian Murgatroyd, Sikandar Bakht, Brett Lee and Sunil Gavaskar (3pm BST commentary)

Monday 28th March

Andrew McKenna presented World Twenty20 Live

Cricket: ICC World Twenty20 Group 1
South Africa v Sri Lanka - Brian Murgatroyd, Sikander Bakht and Alan Wilkins (3pm BST commentary)

Jon Norman got Easter Sunday and Easter Monday off, meaning that Russell, Ray and Macca flew solo when hosting the three games played on those days, as Jon did for Bangladesh v New Zealand on Easter Saturday.

The Dave Cameron who was a guest summariser on Sunday's West Indies v Afghanistan match was not *that* one, but rather the president of the West Indies Cricket Board. It was mentioned during this commentary that it was Roshan's and I think Barry's final game at the tournament before flying home - so Brian and Sikander should call both semi-finals and the final. It's a shame Roshan and Barry aren't staying on for at least one of the semis, as I've enjoyed hearing both of them commentating. Hopefully we'll hear them on talkSPORT 2 again in the future.

How come they not covering all the games from the tournament and why only 4 comms in india.
plus how come they not using any overseas commentators like before.
looks like they producing coverage cheaply.

I think his tone is more suited to the other forms of cricket but I don't have a problem with him covering T20. Why are you becoming fed up of Aggers?

Apparently the reason is the cost of having commentary teams at all the matches.

I think he has become a bit too much about trying to be funny and entertaining. It's fine maybe occasionally ribbing Boycs, but he so often seems to be talking about things other than the actual game going on in front of him these days... He should leave that to amateurs like Dagnall who tries to be funny all the time or people like Blowers who is well past hsi sell by date and cant describe whats going on in front of him!

No one has really replaced CMJ. I like Vic Marks as an analyst/co comm, but wish that Aggers hadnt gone down the road of trying to be funny!

It is not unusual for me to be unsure of whether there has been a run or a dot or a four or a two or whatever after a ball has been bowled when Aggers is commentating as he doesnt mention it sometimes

And it really annoyed me how often he says "i'll be honest"!

I'm happy to report that Barry Wilkinson has remained out in India to cover the World Twenty20's knockout stage with the Cricket Radio team. He joined up with Brian Murgatroyd and Sikander Bakht to commentate on both men's semi-finals and presumably will be with them for the final too. Brett Lee and Kapil Dev joined the trio for England v New Zealand yesterday, with Sir Clive Lloyd and Sunil Gavaskar joining them for West Indies v India today.

Really glad that Barry Wilkinson has stuck around - for me he's been the standout member of the Cricket Radio commentary team, I've enjoyed his enthusiasm, his upbeat voice and the way you can tell he is enjoying working with the summarisers. I've heard a bit of his work for the Line and Length Network (the pan-Caribbean commentary service that he manages which provides coverage of West Indies matches for radio stations across the islands) in the past, but this is the first time I've got to hear him at length and I've been very impressed.

I know the excellent Tony Cozier is their usual West Indian lead commentary voice, but I'd like to hear Barry on Test Match Special during England's various series with the West Indies next year. It would surely make sense for the BBC to link up with the Line and Length Network for the brief three-game ODI tour of the islands this time next year, so that could be a good opportunity to get him involved.

talkSPORT's Ian Abrahams has been presenting the sports news on the Edith Bowman Breakfast Show on the new Virgin Radio which launched last week.

I know they have the same owners but I wasn't expecting a dedicated sports bulletin on a new DAB music station. Not sure if shift this is combined with other duties, perhaps the Difference can confirm.
