EE: I am disappointed we didn't see the funeral (Masoods)
I wish the Masoods were in tonight's episode and I wanted to see the funeral. It's heartbreaking but it should have been Shabnam and Kush's big week. Tonight was all about the Carters but why weren't Shabnam and Kush in tonight's episode? I hate story blocktelling.

I think it's rather nice that they didn't show the funeral; it's a very private thing and a very private grief, it was right that they didn't show it in my opinion.

I'm not entirely sure but I think it's because of the Islam aspect. My family's Muslim (I left the religion a few years ago) and our funerals aren't as straight forward as typical non-Muslim funerals. There are specific ways of doing things for men and women, but I have no idea about babies. That was the first thing that came into mind when I noticed that they skipped it completely.

The scenes would have been devastating to watch but at the same time I do like how they didn't show it so they could have a private final goodbye.

I was wondering about that myself. I suppose they gave some closure to everything when Shabnam decided to stay in Walford on Thursday's episode.
I felt that it really hit its tragic peak on Monday after Shabnam had given birth and she screamed in devastation. Amazing that in a few short episodes I've become a fan of Rakhee. |

I agree with the comments that while it probably would have been amazingly acted and heartbreaking to watch (based on the rest of the storyline), it was nice left for the characters to privately grieve for their child

I think they did it very tastefully. I dont think it had anything to do with the faith. |

I prefer that they didn't. The whole aspect of the storyline was about the stillbirth and the way Shabnam and Kush handled it, not burying their son although I'm not saying that they shouldn't have not considered it. It was just too tearful the whole way through and Rakhee is fantastic.

I found the storyline to be engaging, but there are limits to what can be shown in an entertainment program. |

I'm glad that they didn't show it, the storyline is depressing as it is and for once in EastEnders' history people are like "WE WANT DEPRESSING SCENES." which they have consistently complained about for the past 7 years

The scenes that have been shown were sad/harrowing enough. We didn't see the funeral of Ricky & Bianca's baby either and no one complained about their story sharing screen time with others. I do wonder whether there would be 'uproar' about screen time being taken from the Masoods had it been Phil and Sharon or the Beales in these episodes.
The Masoods had an episode to themselves on Monday and there was a good balance between them and the Carters on Tuesday and Thursday. Not bad considering people thought this would be a week dominated by the Carters, who have been quiet for months and will now go back into the background due to block storytelling. |

Actually that would have been gutting. Ignore me. |

I'm glad they didn't show it. I think it would have been step too far and would probably be distressing for many viewers. I liked that they did a private goodbye and we saw the reactions of Shabnam and Kush in the aftermath. I think the Friday epsiode worked as it was.

I agree that they shouldn't have shown it... and despite the Carters having a big week, the week really belong to the Masood's and Kush & his mother. All great acting, so touching! I cried throughout 2 hours catching up with EE this week

I agree with the consensus here, there is only so much harrowing drama most people can take within one week. So far I think EastEnders have handled Shabnam and Kush's story tastefully and appropriately.
I'm not particularly a Carter fan but I found their scenes in Ramsgate last night quite enjoyable. Linda Henry was great and Babe offers something quite different. |

And also this weeks episodes have been quite tough to watch as my mum went through the same 10'years ago. they have been quite powerful and imo did not need the funeral on screen. I enjoyed the focus returning on the carters which I never thought I would say despite being sad - It had its funny/happy moment and Babe is great! Lee's Story needs more focus. |
