Perhaps people thought that the 'lesser spotted Ellison' was an endangered species due to the lack of sightings! The public love to back endangered species.

Was he really though? There are people in the show before who've seemed like they've got a raw deal in terms of not being shown in the edit but Chris doesn't seem like one, when he is shown he's never done anything of note and he doesn't seem like the most dynamic person in the house and it seems more than likely that the edit is indicative of how he's been in the house, Daniel even just confirmed this by saying in his interview that he thought Chris would go as he hasn't done much.

I've watched him a bit on live feed and he was really dull to listen to so it's not just editing.

I also thought it was quite telling what he said about Daniel in his nomination. Seemed like professional envy to me.
