Does anyone else sometimes forget that Danny Dyer is Mick Carter?
Sometimes I do but I think it's because this is Danny's best acting yet and finest too. So my brain tends to forget it's him because of his previous acting credits. But he's a great actor and a nice character as opposed to the shady 'gangster's for example.

When I see him on EE I don't think "oh look there's Mick Carter", I think "oh look there's Danny Dyer".

Danny's a good actor and Mick's a good character in my opinion, there are other things I like about Danny/Mick but there's already a thread called Eastenders Fittest Fellas so no need to bring that here
![]() I agree OP that Danny's acting as Mick is some of his best but I too tend to thing of Mick as Danny Dyer sometimes as well |

I think Mick is a very good role for him, and he recognizes that and has put a lot of effort into playing him well. On the same note, I think Mick is generally a well-written character, which is a benefit to Danny. I think he's really one of the better actors on the show. There are a few I'd say who are better, but I think he's done a great job since he joined.

I think Mick is nicer than Danny Dyer. I don't think Danny is horrible but Mick seems the perfect family man. I'm not sure Danny is quite as perfect!

Now when I see Danny Dyer, I don't think Danny Dyer the bloke who makes shit movies, I think DD he not too bad and soap probably done him a favour to move him away from that stereotype and you got to give it to him a lot of people were waiting for him to fall and I think his proved them wrong.

I was actually wondering today during the episode how much input Danny Dyer has into Mick's slang talk. Now when I think of Danny Dyer I think of Mick instead of any of his past roles which is good.

He's essentially just playing himself, just with more twisted storylines than his normal life. He even admitted in an interview that he can only do cockney roles.
Not really much of an "actor" with that limited a repertoire. |

All the time. Before EE I never thought twice about him. I only ever saw him in Doghouse so I didn't buy into that East London hard man charade he puts on. Now I have so, so much respect for him as an actor. The range of emotion and the storylines his character was put through tested him as an actor and in each and every one of those storylines he proved himself to be worthy of becoming an EE legend if he lasts long enough. He was an excellent choice for the show. The accent/slang can get a bit much at times, but otherwise I hope he has a long future. I don't see him as Danny Dyer - I see him as the next Phil Mitchell or male Dot - a character with that kind of status on the show.

It's taken me a year, all of 2014 I kept thinking oh there's Danny Dyer. But now, especially since new year, as the storylines have got a bit deeper I see him as Mick. With more interviews as well and more guest appearances on celebrity shows, it's been easier to see Danny Dyer just as himself and separate the actor from Mick.

I see him as both Mick and himself really, but mainly Mick. Maybe never having seen his films has something to do with that, other than EE I've only ever seen his guest stint in HO.

I see him as Mick Carter just as I see all the others as characters not the actors when I'm watching.

I'd never seen nor heard of Danny Dyer before he arrived on the square as Mick Carter, so I've been able to take him as he comes .. bit of a geezer, but quite convincing as an east ender I'd say!

He is Danny Dyer in EE but in a way it doesn't matter as he brings that with him to the role.
