On my usual walk with the dog today and I noticed there wasn't a single blackberry to be picked. Was it the crappy summer here in the north ?

I play golf and I've been chomping on them for a week or so on various spots around the course.
They'll soon be abundant.

How far north? I'm in Nottingham and there have been plenty. Season is just coming to an end.

In Shropshire they are abundant, but it seems the migrants new to our area love them, entire families with big sacks picking all of them, all the wild cherries, garlic as well. I don't have issue with it but surely taking all of them in 3 hours isn't really fair?

Yes, I'm in Sussex too and there are loads. They are lovely and sweet this year.

Where I live, there's been a good crop of sloes, a fair crop of cherries but only a modest crop of blackberries this year.

Plenty here in North Yorkshire, some not quite ripe yet though.

Plenty here in my part of Sussex as well. Have picked and frozen nearly 7kg so far. (That would have cost over £80 in the supermarkets!).

Seen a lot around Notts - probably not a bumper crop but hardly a famine. Sloes and plums are having a good year though.

Yes, it's a great year for plums. We are inundated with them at the moment from our two trees! I'm making a plum sauce tonight to use some up.
