Iwan - first training will be - no swinging Ola about unless she has taped them in with double-sided tape.

Jay - the drought is over - Get in! from Aliona.

Jeremy - can say all the right things.

Jess Glynne - not a great song for Strictly and the choreography for the dancing wasn't that interesting either.

Messy choreography for the intro of the 3 new pros.

Helen - understandably happy with Aljaz.

Jamelia - is either very happy or VERY relieved!

Georgia - the 2 G's are like fumbling youngsters - but they've got each other.

Kirsty - Brendan looks the happier of the two.

Caroline and Pasha Salsa - but I don't think it will put fear in the best of this year's contenders.

Anthony - hugs Oti with his good arm - can't take any risks.

Daniel - seems to be channeling Diarmuid Gavin. Bread and water for Kristina?

Peter - Janette looks the happier, but Peter seems happy too.

Gregory Porter doesn't put on The Ritz - or sing well. Again the supporting choreography isn't great but it's a lot better than Gregory.

Anita - and Glum, - I mean Gleb. I sense an early exit.

Kellie - and Kevin! Is Kevin the new Pasha?

Katie - and - you do the faces, I'll do the jokes - Anton.

Big finish - not - Carol and Pasha.

Group dance. Has someone bet Jay he wouldn't dare stomp around in the group dance? Peter, Jamelia and Katie looked OK, but they were most of who I got a look at.

3 weeks to go. It wasn't a great Launch Show, but I think the lineup and a lot of the pairings are good, so I'm looking forward to it.

More promising pairings? Ainsley and Natalie - he seems to be on good form.
Jamelia and Tristan - she seems to have enough juice for both of them.
Katie and Anton - I hope he can get her to smile.

Disappointments tonight were Daniel and Kristina, who looked like an advert for Valium.
Anthony and his broken wing.
Glum.”

The Jess Glynne part felt odd? Like nerves or anxious excited nerves kicked in for her voice? There was a hint of warble through her voice...

Reminded me of when Lisa Snowdon and Rachel Stevens returned - well it reminded me of Lisa.

Rachel is stunning as a dancer, Lisa is quite bad, tonight Caroline was worse thsn that, Lisa's feet, bad as they were, are far better then Caro's.

Gosh how did you remember that? You are so right. Rachel held her own, but Lisa had lost her mojo there. It just shows how dancing as much as they do when they are competing helps them stay on top. Every time I look back at clips of Rachel I wonder why I didn't think she was a brilliant dancer when she did the show. She is really lovely to watch. And apart from that clip, Lisa is much better than I remember.

PS Thanks for the chance to see Matthew again.

She's still on the main show too, she was dancing in Gregory Porter's number ☺

Just because some "looks the worst" in the group dance does not necessarily mean they'll be the first out. If anything I would imagine that destines them to last till Week 6 - 8

Look at Scott Mills / Dave Myers or even worse Widdecombe.

I loved the show! I've either warmed up to Claudia/Tess as hosts or they've improved. Well, I love Claudia no matter what - but I think maybe she was less nervous and has learned how to blend her quirkiness into the new setting of main host (smart girl our Claud ) But Tess didn't annoy me - I think maybe the first season of being without Brucie stressed her out - she seemed quite at ease. I love her warmth, even if she is a bit shallow - there's Claudia to make up for that flaw. Great team I say and a nice counterbalance to the 3/1 male-to-female judge ratio but I'm still angry at them for dumping Arlene (maybe I'm the only one )

I thought Peter was struggling to hide his disappointment at having Janette. I bet he dreamed of being linked in the tabloids to either of the sex kittens Ola or Kristina - I have a feeling the man has an understanding that there's no such thing as bad publicity - and also, the more the better, whatever they're saying. I doubt he knew who Janette was and there's something sort of androgynous about her. I can't wrap my head around her and Aljaz as a couple - especially with her being 6 years older but oh well, none of my beeswax. He's a swell guy regardless but I'm kinda hoping Helen isn't the defo winner like some have predicted. She seemed a bit lackluster to me, personality wise - a bit like Pixie.

Agree both Anton and Brendan seemed more excited than their partners - I was surprised Jamelia was so ecstatic what with Tristan being mostly unknown but maybe he made a good impression on her in training (or could just be that he's gorgeous?) Speaking of... from what I know from my rather thorough Gleb cyber-stalkery, he's a bit fragile psychologically. He did well last year on the Russian show but his wife Elena and daughter were in town with him - the last time they were separated, he sort of flipped out for a while - not sure if it's the drink or a tendency toward depression - and hopefully it's neither and I'm just being neurotic... wish wifey could get to London though - from his demeanor I'm worried about him. Like w/Gordana, her choreography assistance was invaluable in Moscow as well.

Wonder if Giovanni is annoyed that Gleb is getting the hottie mentions - he's no slouch himself - but wonder about his English? Did he say "I'm scary of Claudia?" and Tristan was teasing him in a periscope, repeating "What this means?" while Giovanni was bragging that he'd just learned the word "scintillating." He demonstrated, "Giovanni is scintillating" in a sort of stilted funny way - oh well, good times ahead with the somewhat verbally challenged Gio AND Gleb. At least I hope it's good times.

Missing Trent He's apparently still on the road with "Puttin' on the Ritz" and I assume Robin and Anya will join Trent and wife Gordana. I also feel sorry for Joanne and in some of her Twitter pix, I think her eyes betray her real feelings (i.e., let down.) Rumor was they had to make an emergency call to get Jason Gilkison back on set to save the disaster that was Scott/Joanne, so I think it may have been worse than what we thought. Guess we'll see if she gets another chance next year - but why bring on a new girl at all if they were sure they wanted to keep Jo as a celebbed pro?

And why was Jay so ridiculously nervous? - he was a boybander - you'd think he wouldn't have so much stagefright. He must have done ok in practice because Aliona was gleeful - but I suppose after the last few years, it wouldn't take much to turn her on, a la Anton. Glad Pasha finally got a duffer (and Karen) - Kellie/Kevin seem quite a dull duo - I love how Strictly balances things out, re pairings, while DWTS is appallingly unfair as poor Artem has found out the hard way...

Well too much rambling at the end of the thread but loved all the comments and really liked the show! Hope we get some intel about how the rehearsals are going!

She will get through 3 or 4 rounds at least, simply because of her popularity with the BBC Breakfast viewers. This was the case with La Reid and alsi with Chris Hollins, who should never have won - especially with Rickie Whittle and Ali Bastian in the line up.

'Wee Carol' appears to have the mobility of a super tanker and a turning cirle of similar proportions. Yet she will get through a few rounds.

I hope that I am wrong but i doubt it

Maybe been asked but does anybody know where the village was in the opening sequence?

No reason why he wouldn't be. He's a professional dancer, he know what happens.

I don't get the vile hate for them on here. Assuming of course that you don't actually know them...

Not sure - the train station sequence was filmed in Essex though according to Daily Mail.

She missed her slot at Sundown this weekend. Becky Hill filled in for her. So maybe Jess was coming down with something.

Jess Glynne was horrific. She made Boy George sound it tune. Just shows how bad at live singing this crop of auto tuned "superstars" are these days.

He can't dance nor teach latin which is one half of the show.”

He also had Patsy Palmer who wasn't bad and would have got a lot further with someone who could dance Latin.

Thanks for the link!

This time they had a good song for Strictly and Jess Glynne sang it well!

I watched it several times and formed opinions, but I'm no expert so I will have to wait until their first 2 dances to get a better idea of potential. It does look like several of them are going to be in contention.

When she and Pasha greeted each other I thought that Carol was a wee bit too tall for him. There are taller male pros that would have suited her better.

I think looking good as a pair height wise is the start of a good dance partnership.

Pasha will just need to put on his stack heels!!

My mum who was only watching it to see Jeremy Vine (and even then she was really fussed about it one bit ), found Jess' singing absolutely dreadful.
