Favourite UK Rave anthems ?
the chauffeur
05-09-2015
Just reading an article about some of the rave anthems that came out of the UK in the 1990's ...
Let Me Be Your Fantasy number one in 94, a real classic. Dance music was on a real high in the early 1990's, innovation from the underground that broke into the main stream.
Anthems that became "classics" and that make a lot of today's dance hits seem very formulaic.

I've been listening to a lot of early 90s rave recently. Stuff like

Altern 8 - Activ 8
Prodigy - Charly
Oceanic - Insanity
N Joi - Mindflux
KLF - What Time is Love
Nightmares on Wax - Aftermath

Those were the days. So much energy, subversion and originality

The Prodigy - Anything from "Experience"
Dune - Million Miles From Home (Pendulum even sampled it on Propane Nightmares)
A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray (Okay, this is Acid House but still, part of the early rave movement)
808 State - Pacific State (The guy from A Guy Called Gerald's group, this was a huge track back in the day.)

Then there's all of your early 90's eurodance, stuff like The Shamen (Ebeneezer Goode) and 2Unlimited

Not exactly a UK rave anthem since Dune are German but still a great track.

I used to love 'Dune' back in the day...shame they never really released much in the UK. They were pretty popular on Irish radio.

Got it, missed shelleys era by a few years but my cousin said it was amazing and she loved it. I remember my dad driving past on a saturday evening and people were queing up at 4pm just to be first in the que.

Nobody said the artists had to be from the UK, just part of the rave scene.

Sure...I guess the first line of the OP made me think he was referring to UK artists/tracks but my reply was more out of surprise that someone else remembered Dune as it has been a while

despite being 3 or 4 when it was released, I remember clearly the great track "Everybody say love" by The Magi & Emanation remixed by the Prodigy being played by my dad and me bouncing through the room
