Jamelia and Andre both looked good. And both fired early shots in the baby warz.

On last night . I don't understand why Carol got such a dreary dress . It was so out of place among all the others and her endless fluffing it around looked like it was meant to hid her inability to dance .

I thought all the celebrities did a fantastic job for the group dance.

It's great that the pros kept the celebrities in hold as often as possible, so as to maintain their balance and proper footing throughout the routine.

Admittedly, its a bit premature to say who is the definite front runner as training has not commenced, nor are there any surrounding background information, chemistry, and dynamics from which to go by.

Having said that, based on just this group dance alone, a few observations and comments (in no particular order):

Helen: It was fun to watch her enjoy herself out there and have a nice time dancing. Would like to see her settle down a bit more on her standing leg, and to use the floor to push upwards through the feet, ankle, hips and core a bit more (looks a bit like a newborn deer trying to walk). But it's interesting to note that she has the ability to exude and dance outwards to the audience. Looking forward to seeing her upcoming dances.

Peter: He has great musicality and feel for the music. I noticed a tendency for him to rise his shoulders slightly, thereby ruining his posture. At times, he did have a slight hunch in the neck/shoulder area and wasn't confident about foot position/placement, but I'm sure this will be sorted out. It's interesting to note how he can hold a room in stillness during the celeb group number, and knife through the music through his stance and demeanor.

Jamelia: She has nice weight distribution throughout both her legs, and like Peter, has great feel for the music. A bit interesting to see how she was able to keep up side-to-side with a female pro (Aliona) at the opening of the number. A little worried she may set the bar high for herself throughout the competition, and struggle to satisfy her standards (and the judges) on a weekly basis. I do have to say that she can pack a lot of punch/energy with each step she makes.

Jay: I'm interested in knowing more about this person (I'm from the States). He seems layered, and someone who can be moldable and shapeable. While not in the same dance level as Peter or Jamelia, its possible he may have some upside as the weeks go along. I see him struggling at the beginning, but slowly shedding off his inhibitions, stiffness to show different sides to him on the dance floor. Interesting to see how this pairing will pan out down the line.

Best of luck to all the celebs and looking forward to their dances.

Jamelia looked the best to me. I think she'll be great in latin based on the showing of the group dance. Peter Andre looked good for the boys too.

I thought Jay and the girl from Coronation Street would be better but I think it might have been a case of first night nerves for them. I'm looking forward to being able to see them dance properly.
