1. The pairings seemed to be designed to make life easier for the couples - and maybe save money on travelling expenses. (Karen & Kevin/ Aliasz and Janette based in London with London based celebs) Carol Kirkwood is Salford based - Countdown is filmed in Salford so pairing with Pasha is obvious
2. Kristina getting Daniel is close to Flavia getting Russell Grant - presumably for the obvious reason.
3. Lot of taller men this year - height differences might be a factor
4. Will the studio audience be flooded with elderly Irish ladies all muttering "Daniel" under their breath

4) Jay looked like a resin figurine in the group dance, and with Tess and Claudia; that wasn't expected, although most likely nerves.

Having done my background work (interviews, red carpet event), it seems that she is really shy and doesn't know how to react as herself before a camera.

And as for Anton, she already said on the red carpet event (shot a day earlier) that she really wanted to be paired with Anton (hey, she had a Darcey poster also, so weird idols and stuff, lol!).

She seems like someone who has the ability to say stuff without realising how it comes across (in the way it is said). Mind you, I have that sometimes myself so I can understand.

Will be interesting to see Aljaz dealing with that, as his previous two partners were craving for the attention.

4) For a second, Jamelia was kind of nice, saying that she was going to let the judges judge her without her butting in. That was until she said that she would only do it on the condition that the judges were nice to her.

I wondered the same thing - I thought it looked like Jamelia was thrilled as she had been hoping for Tristan, but he struggled to look happy. Which seemed weird as I thought he'd be a lot happier to finally get a partner under 50 who can move.

Tristan did kiss Jamelia on the cheek - twice I think - after they were paired and as they went up the stairs. Maybe it just seemed low-key compared to his apparent glee last year with the Irish lady. I liked Jamelia last night and didn't see anything wrong with her comments - she didn't name WHO she didn't want and later said there were 3 on her "wish list" and Tristan sort of joked about that - I guess wondering if he was her 3rd choice or something. Girl can dance!

He's not my cup of tea (and neither is Aiden Turner) but this made me titter.

I didn't see anything wrong with her comments either - its inevitable that there will be some pros you don't want and some you are hoping for - she was just honest about it I liked her a lot more than I was expecting and I don't think Tristan's reaction was terrible or anything - he may have just gone into shock at getting someone who can move after all these years I think they'll be great together.
