That's the thing though. It was entertaining, I'll give them that. But like many of the other auditions, it was clearly set up from start to finish. The public are not completely stupid, and if they remove any semblance of spontaneity from the auditions people will soon begin to turn off.
A large part of the enjoyment was seeing the judges faces when they were stunned at finding some unlikely contestant had a great voice. Now it all feels rehearsed, and their reactions appear false. Not a clever move Simon.
