It was noticeable how fit and raring to go Anton looked on the launch show BruciesChin.

It way well be that they got on very well in training. I believe that Lisa Riley and Robin we moved to be with each other when the producers saw how well they got one....or Carole got on very well with Pasha

The producers do probably look for the chemistry before making a decision on the pairings.

Jive first by the looks of it in First Steps video. Not a bad dance to get out of the way.

I'm sure that Anton will nail it.

Katie will have to crack the whip to get him ready for showtime.

Considering how she has kind of drawn the short straw having the Jive as her first dance, she looks quite capable in that video.

More than capable thanks to Anton.

Antons dances are always of a very high standard Frank, he never disappoints us.

Looking at some of the posts on this forum I think Pasha would get along with anyone.

Well either she has it or she hasn't, and it looks like she has it, irrespective of anyone's teaching.

Well said - Katie looks like that rarest of beasts, an untrained but natural dancer. Will be interesting to see what dances she does best in; previous info puts her as a Party Latin girl, so that could be interesting with Anton.

She can 'have it' till the coos come home , but if she doesn't have a good teacher whom she bonds with then she is stuffed .
I predict Anton will guide her nicely and this will be a good year for him .

Your prediction sounds like a very good one Heatherbell.

The Jive is definitely a good dance for them to get out of the way early on. Much as I like Anton, he's showing his age now in fast Latin, especially compared with all the young hot male pros now.

I love Anton and for me he is a huge part of the show's appeal so I would love him to do well this year.
Katie seems good fun, is enthusiastic and a competent dancer from the small clips we've seen so hopefully they'll stick around for a while.

Cha-cha and Rumba, the dances of death it's best to get over with whilst there are still people on the show who can't dance to take the fall for you!

I agree. Doesn't matter how much of a natural dancer you are you need a good teacher. Brilliant performers don't necessarily make good teachers although they can obviously provide a better demonstration of steps and more exciting choreography (although not necessarily to their celeb's strengths in all cases). A good rapport with someone who is maybe less accomplished but can communicate the technique can work wonders.

No, I don't think Anton is very good at Latin, or even a great Ballroom dancer anymore (his dancing looks nice but is a bit dated). However, as far as I can see poor Anton can't win with some people. If Katie performs badly they will say it is his fault for not teaching her properly or taking it seriously. If she performs well they will suggest it is despite having him as a teacher.

Exactly so .
BIB . Do you think that maybe his ballroom looks dated because he is an older man ? Sometimes I think that . If a younger , taller , cuter guy danced exactly the same I'd bet we'd all think it wonderful because it looks more prettily perfect with young pretty people . I think it's a mind trick . But I'm a bit off piste at the best of times .

That was one of my points really. Anton is now surrounded by younger, hotter guys. I still love watching him dance Ballroom and he makes me laugh, but I can see why he might appeal to older viewers.

And why is there no elder stateswoman female dancer of comparable age?
