What way does this work? I am after an iPhone, when the new iPhones are released this week do current models drop in price or do they stay the same and the new models come in more expensive? Do they also drop on eBay as want to sell my 5C? I guess I am after something like the iPhone 6, 5S would even be considered if at a good price.

They do drop but not by much, demand for these top selling iPhones remains high so price cuts rarely happen. If you're expecting the kind of devaluation that Apples competitors often suffer then unfortunately that never happens to iPhones.

An iPhone 5s 16gb released 2'years ago for around £529 and it's currently selling in high demand for £499, so as you can see its demand that keeps the prices high. Just as poor demand sees prices fall.

All depends IF they are discontinued. If so then the networks could do some good deals to shift stock but that would be it, I suspect.

All rumours point to 5c being discontinued which could mean a small drop in prices whilst businesses clear stock. 5s to be dropped in price and 6 and 6 Plus to receive price cuts. The 5s could be tempting if it takes the price points of the 5c (and your OK with a 4inch screen). EBay prices will already reflect some of this especially on 6 and 6 plus as I found to my cost last year!

If selling your iPhone 6 now on eBay you should expect about £480 for it second hand. A brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 on eBay is about £340 due to the devaluation.

It really annoys me how overpriced iPhones are, they are not worth it but for me there is no alternative. Could not live with the android lag, I am a Windows phone fan boy but that is dead in the water.

Yes Android lag. I'm writing this on a nexus 7 2013, it lags, I had an S5 it lagged, Moto G, the list could go on. Could it be that you are so used to lag you don't notice it?

Its not dead in the water. Sales keep growing and with windows 10 and universal's apps, you'll have all the xbox, tablet /desktop and mobile apps all when and if the developers make tiny changes

No guarantee anyone will write universal apps for Win10. Also I think the win10 app store is stuck - everyone I know who has upgraded to 10 has NOT used a Microsoft account to log in (due to the strong passwords required mostly) - so the Windows Store doesn't work. Nobody cares and just uses normal Win7 type applications.

'modern' apps may be the future, but out of 10 Win10 laptops/desktops I'm aware of, nobody is using any modern apps.

That's because the Nexus 7 2013 was hardware wise rubbish and lagged right from the very start. The 2014 version was fine. The S5 lagged because of touchwiz. Use a custom launcher and the lag vanished. The moto g, cant say i used one much, but from the use of my sisters when she had one. there was no lag.


Or could it be you used either rubbish devices or ones full of bloatware? I'll put my bets on that one! I used to use Samsung devices but ditched them because of that awful touchwhiz. Iphones weren't without there lag either when i had them.

One thing i like about the Z2 is it has pretty much zero bloatware, a very light minimal skin that looks pretty much stock.

Odd. No one i know hasn't used a Microsoft account Why would a password stop you using it?

Im hoping there is some sort of "incentive" from the networks when the new iphones are released, even if the prices stay the same or similar it would be nice to get some bonuses when you buy an older model such as more data...

The problem is there is no need to offer incentives, as the iPhone has the major advantage in abilitys anyway. Hence consumers rating iPhones as best via buying habits leading to record sales.

I would expect the price to drop £100 if they keep it on the market.

And even seen one on UK Hot Deals just now for £430 new.

So used should be about £250-£300 mark. However now isnt the time to sell as demand will fall and supply will go through the roof.

I think he means you have to have a strong password for a Microsoft account and no one wants to have to type that every time they log onto Windows.

This isn't actually a problem though. Windows will give you the opportunity to use a PIN instead.
The only thing I do to log in is hit the space bar to lift the lock screen and then type a 4 digit PIN on the numeric keypad.
Behind the scenes Windows still logs you on with your actual password though.

For anyone still typing a long password go to Settings / Accounts / Sign-in Options to set up a PIN.

I am. Weather app is cool and I now use the Netflix app.
Been playing with the Amazon app ans I quite like the photo app.
I'd use Edge if it had a bookmark bar where you can customise the size of the bookmarks.

The adults want a simple password (PIN might work, good idea) - but the kids just want 'auto logon' so they don't have to type any password. (Ages under 10).

I use a PIN on my Windows tablet, but it suggested it - I find the apps pretty boring even on the tablet, so have no need on my desktop with 24" monitor and mouse. They'd look pretty stupid on the big screen

Yes iPhones are overpriced but they also hold their value. Largely because there are never any rapid devaluations of the current (or even previous!!) models. People who bought a Samsung S6 at launch price must be pretty annoyed at how the price (and thus second-hand value) has collapsed.

I remember with my HTC M7 within a year it was valued at less than a Motorola G LTE. But iPhones barely lose any value specially if they are unlocked.

I have an S5 at the moment and might get an iphone next. I have noticed lag on the S5 and customer service has been a struggle/
