Do you think it's wrong that a woman in her fifties/sixties is dating a guy young enough to be her son?

Why do you think Jase (her toy boys name apparently) is going out with her? Will it be because she has her own business? Or do you think there will be more to it than that?

I know the scenes haven't aired yet, but generally women have a harder time when they date someone younger so I was wondering what people's thoughts on the matter are.

Personally I dont think it really matters, sure someone in their seventies dating someone in their twenties would be weird. But with Elaine, I think she's entitled to a bit of fun and I could totally see why she would be attracted to someone older.

Personally I think theres nothing wrong at all with an older woman dating a younger man or vice versa (Provided we're talking still talking about adults)

I think Elaine is spot on young man is great I am in a relationship with a fair sized age-gap and it has worked well for seven years. I am 42 my b/f has just turned 28 and it works well for us. It doesn't work always but as long as it's consensual adults in their twenties or older then it's nobody else's business

I don't see an issue to be honest. It's not like he is 16, then perhaps it would be a bit weird.

I think it's fine as long as they don't reveal that Jase is using Elaine for her money or something

*shrug* As long as everyone is of age and consenting, I don't see the problem with any kind of romantic/sexual relationship.

But I think you're right, Scrabbler, in that we'll find that Jase is involved with Elaine for some less than honorable reason.

Age gaps don't matter. i am dreading the scenes because I cannot stand Elaine.

I large age gap is between my grandparents and my friends parents. It works for some.
Personally a large age gap doesn't appeal to me as I wpuld prefer to be in a similiar age range to my partner. We All have tastes and some people like large age gaps. As long as the people in such are happy, thats all that matters at the end of the day

Another reason I am happy with the story line is that the toyboy is Scott Neal

That was one of his best sketches. The one where the electrician or plumber came over to their house was my favourite. Kathy Burke was great in that too.

you are 42, I thought from the stuff you have said you were early twenties at most and your fella was older.

but your age diff is the same as my friend and her toyboy, I dont know if its different two men but she is quite mature and he in comparison is immature, like drink driving and writing his car off, working at a theme park instead of getting a proper job etc.

To scrabbler yes I think its wrong, age gaps either way to around 10 years max you tend to have things in common but what would a 70yr old woman have in common with a 25yr old

I can't take it seriously because I suspect he's just using her. Denise and Arthur, on the other hand, really worked. I think they were good for each other.

I wish I was in my twenties Lea lol my boyfriend says I act as if I am but god sometimes I feel very old . I think age gaps are workable but the one you gave 70/25 is ridiculous that's a money thing IMO. Thanks

yes they do seem to in some situations. its not for me I prefer men to be my age or a year or two older.

my work colleague is coming up to being married for 30 years and her hubby is just over 20yrs older

I didn't go looking for someone younger, and really the attraction initially was all on my boyfriends side, but it was also a strange situation in that I was working in Copenhagen at the time but couldn't speak the language, (You generally don't have to in Denmark as the majority of people there also speak English as a second language)one day I did need to speak the language and he rescued me. He is actually of Hong Kong descent but is a polyglot and speaks 16 languages and it started from there. Anyway this is a soap forum, back on subject I may dump the b/f for Scott Neal who is closer in age to me lol

What sort of bloke is into decrepit interfering old bags that molest their son-in-law? Sounds like a bit of a deviant if you ask me.

BIB
- If Mick was like every other bloke on the Square there's no doubt the first woman he'd jump into bed with is his future mother-in-law. That's full-on French kissing and he slapped her bum at least once.

Grant slept with Tiffany's mum Louise in the late 90s and Phil had an affair with auntie Glenda.

10 or 15 years is reasonable, what I can't stand is aging rock stars 70+ years old with 20 something blondes on their arm. It sickens me, of course if Dh were to kick his clogs, I'd have no problem going out with a younger man, the problem Is, they probably not Interested in me No probems with any of you with younger partners. Go for it. as long as the younger one is not a teen.

I like Scott Neal but this sounds a rather short lived role and more of a plot device rather than a long term thing. I guess older-women younger men is all the rage at the minute but for some reason I don't feel it suits Elaine the way it would say Glenda back when she was in it.

This one doesn't bother me like that dreadful Vanessa/Kirin thing in Emmerdale where he hadn't even finished secondary school, that was all types of ewwww.
