EastEnders: I hope Kathy isn't leaving after her 6 month stint
I have never seen Kathy in EastEnders but she seems like she's a great character and there's a lot they can do with her because she's Ian and Ben's mum etc.
But Gillian Taylforth says that she is back for 6 months but she hopes the EE bosses will extend her contract. WHY did they give her a 6 month contract? Link = http://www.ok.co.uk/tv/eastenders-gi...eturn-sceptics |

No way after all this build up and scenes here and there that she will leave in 6 months it would be so stupid.
2 years I reckon then a little break. |

Apparently Hollyoaks didn't kill her off. So she could easily just return to that if she was called back. Its a great place for an actor to be in.

bryan kirkwood joked in an interview published on DS today that he might kill her off in an off screen car crash.
he did say he was an eastenders fan and friend of DTC and so pleased she was back as Kathy, I think he was joking but he should hold fire. I did a poll the other day on how long folks were thinking she would stay for then discovered it was a 6 month contract, she has already moaned about 5am starts so can't see her being the new pat and around for years (unless the poster meant she would be the next "legend" killed) |

I would hate it if she was only back for 6 months especially since we found out she was alive in February and she had her first proper scenes in August (minus the one in the cafe with Phil). If she left in 6 months, the wait we had for Kathy would be the same as the amount of time she would be on screen for (if that makes sense
)I'm sure the contract will be extended though. |

Slightly off-topic, but I was looking at Gillian's acting credits, and it seems that she has appeared alongside two current EE actors in the 2005 or 06 series Jane Hall. Nitin Ganatra (Masood) and Ann Mitchell (Cora) were in it too. I didn't see it but will be interesting if she's given scenes with them.
Kathy's son is going out (though it's a front) with Cora's granddaughter so there's a link. |

They wouldn't have gone to all this effort bringing her back, with a ridiculously far-fetched storyline, only for her to leave again in six months. Kathy will surely be a permanent fixture. As the trailer says, she's coming HOME.

Kathy is back for good. 6 months is just an initial contract.
