Baldness in women is not usual in that when someone sees a bald woman they may assume that she is ill or weird. People don't make that assumption so much with men.

I'm not sure why Austin did it. Did he do it because he wanted votes? Did he do it because he was drunk? Did he do it to avoid nomination? Did he do it out of the goodness of his heart? I think probably all four of those factored into this somewhere, but I do genuinely believe that there was good intent behind what he did and that Austin's main motive for it was because he wanted to make a nice gesture.
