Dont mention the boston tea party and all that.
The americans make a big thing of the founding fathers who were ....well actually english....so why cant the special relationship include the uk in a green card?”
There's nothing more fervent than a reformed drunk. Sure, some of the "founding fathers" may have backgrounds in the UK, but they tossed them out. Not sure if you're aware, but the "founding fathers" didn't come about until the American Revolution. And they were born in America, though they may have been British colonies. They certainly weren't governed by Britain. It governed itself .... hence the revolution. Besides, I don't think Americans (other than historians) do make a big deal out of "founding fathers." There are certain important historical figures, but they were mostly in all different eras, a few from that time period.
As for green cards - now that SSM is legal nation-wide, there isn't a problem. I don't know UK laws, but before SSM was legal, did having a "special relationship" get one residency status? Bet it didn't.
