Sorry my mistake I meant that the Republic of Ireland were playing in the Rughby World Cup Quarter Finals instead of Semi Finals this weekend.

This is true. Also he was an awful dancer who made robots look graceful and spontaneous. He often talked of how nervous he felt so I think it was very cruel of fans to keep voting for him and make him go through all that every week.

Ireland, not the Republic of Ireland; Quarterfinals not semis; people in the Republic of Ireland can't vote unless they use a VPN; people don't just vote for someone from the same area.
I am not saying that was the only reason that he was in the dance off it just did not help well if you read some on the posts on here then apparently most of his general fan bases are Irish one way or another.
He won me over!
I was surprised to see him in the dance-off and felt really sorry for him when he fluffed it so badly. The judges didn't really have much option but to choose Kirsty and Brendan, though their 'Saturday' dance was dreadful.
I've thoroughly enjoyed watching him and though I still feel he comes over as a little bit strange at times, I ended up believing he really was that nice a person and wasn't just putting it on.
I'll miss him anyway, I wished he'd stayed longer.

Daniel has said that he is relieved to have left Strictly due to his nerves and that he would not be doing any more reality TV shows:

I was amazed how nervous he was but then he can't explain it himself . Most of the celebs who have appeared on the show also found it a very nerve wracking experience .
I would say the worst part for most is having to face the judges and their comments .

But as I said in one of the other threads I don't see how the rugby would have had an effect as it was the next day, had it been the Saturday I might have agreed though.

It is a small country cottage, it doesn't hold a thousand fans! What did they expect? It is something that started many years ago, "a cup of tea at Daniel's house", it became a tradition then and the crowds got too big.

Wow, what an unnecessarily unkind post.
You didn't like him, we get it. However no need to be so insensitive to those that do, who genuinely like and respect the man. Even if you don't like a particular contestant it's not nice to gloat about their departure.
I'm really sad he has gone.
I loved his relationship with Kristina and it brought a tear to my eye when he gave his final words of thanks to her before his last dance. A true gentleman.
(Oh and heres food for thought, perhaps his loyal fan base from the Republic had no desire step foot in the North!!)

I'm pretty sure from the comments I've heard that the worst part by far is the wait to hear who is going through to next week and who is in the dance-off. I get the impression most are too hyped-up post-dance on adrenaline and nervous energy to actually pay that much attention to anything the judges say!

Just goes to show, one is never too old to get flustered and starstruck.Whilst, I didn't get quite as excited as that lovely lady, I was struck dumb when Paul McCartney arrived at the boutique townhouse I was working at in 2002.
He arrived very late with Ms. Mills in tow and I nearly collapsed with the shock.
I grew up as a child of parents that were total(MENTAL) Beatle fans and to see him and speak with him....well....I was a blubbering eejet. He could see my reaction and I think he got a kick out of it.
(He was lovely btw, and very, very witty) They say you should never meet your idol..but he was a lovely, lovely man!
Daniel O'Donnell was on Ireland's premier chat show 'The Late Late Show' last night - it was a special on Irish Country Music (as in Country & Western)...anyhoo...
He was full of praise for everyone involved in Strictly, and said they all got on great. When the presenter asked him if a little part of him was glad he'd been voted out, Daniel's reply was 'not a little part of me...every part of me!'. He said the nerves and the workload (having to remember the choreography) were terrible, but he felt that last week, he was going some way to conquering his nerves.
I'm sure he did his utmost to succeed in the dance off, because he's got loads of intergrity and kindness, but it's nice to know he was sort of relieved to go.
I'm sure it's the same for his wife - on Twitter she was asking for support, and I know she wanted him to do well each week, but I got the impression she was living in terror as the time for the show approached each week!
