I'm one of life's big cynics and I always think that what I see on tv has been twisted, manipulated or edited to fit someone's agenda.
My late Mum was a big Daniel O'Donnell fan, being half Irish herself, and I simply couldn't accept that the sickly sweet, nice-to-old-ladies persona was real, choosing to believe that when he was off duty he'd put the Sex Pistols on loud, neck a bottle of whiskey, swear like a trooper and kick the cat.
Twenty-odd years on, and he still hasn't blotted his copybook and noone has managed to dig up the slightest speck of dirt on him.
He's still performing his vanilla music with a big smile and still being nice to a new generation of old ladies.
Reading his Facebook blog and seeing him on Strictly makes me think that he might actually be for real!
The one thing I can't get though is how slow he is to react to anything.
Did anyone notice after his dance, how long it took him to smile after Len gave him the huge compliment about his footowork?
I'm becoming quite intrigued by him, and hope his army of JumperCake Ladies keep him in for a long time.
