Not as good as Put Your Money Where your mouth is
What I have noticed is Christina Trevanion on these shows. She seems nice and always cheery disposition but when it comes to buying she is never happy. I saw it yesterday and she got am item down to and she still wasn't happy and got the guy to call the dealer who said 17£ bottom price bit she took the phone and went on and on and on until he agreed to £15. Basically bullying with a smile. Most dealers on the show accept a price but she won't stop until she's bullied the price she wants. Am I being unfair

IM sure if I went into her shop and tried it I wouldn't get far. Ticket price 200 I'll pay £19 only. Yeah okay

I'm liking this pairing.
Paul certainly knows his militaria.

The shopkeepers cave in rather too easily for my enjoyment. However if the lovely Christina demanded a 99% discount and one of my kidneys I would probably agree.

You do know the BBC compensate the shop owners when the dealer gets a real bargain, right?

Otherwise you'd only see tiny profits on each item which would be boring telly. It's the same for Bargain Hunt as well.

I always wonder about people afterwards. Many of the dealers they visit are shown up as having little knowledge of their trade and not recognising items that they could probably get a good price for if they put in a specialist sale or even just put on eBay. Then the people buying at the auctions see that the item they just paid £200 for, could have been got for much less than that even without the ridiculously high discount given. The lady was pleasant to watch but I found the man a bit creepy, like many other dealers on these programmes (unlike Antiques Roadshow).

They all do it and I guess the dealers expect them to.

I agree that haggling for a couple of pounds off is rather silly.

Paul spotted a bargain today, a quid buy that netted him a £300 + profit.

Paul and James Lewis are in a different class to the others. Not really a fair contest.

That was very impressive. It's not a fair fight really

If nothing else it shows how ill-informed the shopowner was about glassware.

It may be true for Road trip, but since making a profit in Bargain Hunt is so rare, I doubt things are what you claim.

If you back your story up with evidence, either from BBC or several of the sellers, then I will believe.

It's definitely true for Bargain Hunt, I know someone who was on it. I also was at filming in Derby Uni and spoke to some of the dealers. This was back in 2006 though, things might have changed.

Can't stand the man, especially the way he gets people to toss a coin over a price - he's a wheeler dealer, not an antiques expert.

hes actually really nice I sometimes see him in our local sainsburys.I once greeted him enthusiastically because I thought he was one of my shops customers and he was charming about it .He is also not the only Antiques bloke to do the heads otr tails things a lot of them do it .And Id rather that than the awful aggressive haggling over 2 quid that some of them do

A friend was on Bargain Hunt about 7 years ago and I and some friends went to the Auction. Tim didn't move out of the Auction house all morning as he was kept busy filming, when he did come out he spent some time having photographs and signing autographs with us and then went and had about 30 minutes for his lunch (with everyone else) and then came out and filmed the end sequences. He was polite and friendly, the only people who were stuck up and obnoxious were Julian Clary and his Mum who were there filming the first of the series of celebrity BH's, they snubbed everyone and only appeared to film their bit of the auction and then hid away again in the green room.

No argument here, she is a cute, pretty, shiny happy person.
