How is it nonsense? It's actually very accurate. When the Samsung s5 came out, it was a mild step up but not really a worthwhile upgrade to the s4. Many apple fans agreed at the time. The same applies here
As I mentioned I'm afraid any such logic with regards to an iPhone release is very very unlikely. Recent posts if read carefully prove just that

It is the usual nonsense claim that anyone who buys an apple product only believes what they are told and are all some how fooled by the brand/media.
I don't think anyone has ever said 'anyone who buys them'. Some sadly do as is evident on here for a kick off. One guy wanting to cancel his holiday to buy a new iphone for example!!

It's nonsense because if that was the case you would end up with lots of disappointed customers, whereas what they actually end up with is very high levels of customer satisfaction and growing ownership.
Why would you end up with a lot? Some people just need to have the latest and greatest. People do it with Samsung, Sony, people do it with AV gear (i used to be one of them!) and many other things. Apple isn't immune to this.
