I used to get on with Wonkey but we fell out over a series of BB a few years back (Luke A series). In that series her usual fair judgement seemed to disappear and she became very obsessive about Luke (Think Sweetprincess' obsession with Marc is bad? Wonkeys obsession with Luke A was worse during that series).

She was a good forum member and thoughts go to her family and friends.

RIP Wonkey.

I hadn't realised that she had defended Wolfy. Good on her! I actually liked Wolfy, and I couldn't understand why she was such a hate figure. Yes, she had some flaws, but I never thought she was in any way unkind or spiteful, as many much more popular Housemates have been. I'm glad that someone besides myself was able to see that.

We didn't always have the same opinions about the HMs but I loved reading her posts and I too will miss her on here.

I was honoured to be her Facebook friend so I saw the sad news this afternoon. I couldn't face being the one to break the news to the whole forum so thank you anne_666 for starting this thread. A rare show of unanimous agreement indeed!

She had been under a lot of hospital care since the spring but was always so matter of fact about it. Never one to make a fuss. She kept upbeat with her tales of NHS incompetence, making it sound like the plot of a sitcom, and I wish you could have read about her childlike glee at getting a stairlift fitted! So the end came as a shock, I think she kept the worst of it away from us and treated chronic illness like just another one of life's hurdles you have to deal with.

On here we bonded in one of the Appreciation Threads. As so many of you have said she was always very fair and thoughtful. She loved getting stuck into a meaty debate and was always interested and respectful of wildly differing views.

BB14 was the final straw for her - too manipulated and resorting to personal humiliation for her liking. She had a bad instinct about BB15 and refused to watch, a good call as it turned out. She was still up for dissecting the tiniest detail of BB's good old days though!

So yes, it's quite fair to call Wonkeydonkey a DS legend, one who will be very sorely missed.

I trust she gave the Grim Reaper a polite and very stern telling off for his audacity.
A brilliant post. I've been hanging back, unsure what to say but your post sums it up perfectly. I suspected her illness may be worse than the light-hearted way she recounted the trials and tribulations of dealing with it but her death still came as a massive shock.

Terribly sad news. Feel for her family and friends. I would always read her posts as she talked a lot of sense on these boards. Good FM whose posts will be missed.

I was thinking just yesterday that there's been a Wonkeydonkey-shaped hole in the forum recently, so very sad to hear this news.

I didn't always agree with her but I always enjoyed reading her posts, here and on GD, she will be greatly missed.

Sincere condolences to her family. RIP WD, you were a DSBB legend. Hope it's a comfy chair in the Diary Room in the sky x

there's been a wonkey hole since she stopped watching BB a couple of years ago, I always hoped she'd be back writing about the recent morons we get to watch, but very sadly it's now not to be, RIP

What a nice thought.

I can just picture Wonkey up there in the DR chair picking over proceedings from the house.

She'll be missed on here ....

Only appropriate to do some multi-quoting in tribute.

I’ve been looking back through WD’s BB threads to try to capture a flavour of them.
There should probably be a knock-down, drag-out, multi-quote marathon in there but I wouldn’t know where to begin with that.

The obvious one to refer back to is her post explaining why she was giving up on watching BB, despite loving it like nothing else, because she didn’t like the way it was heading:
In which I flounce, turn into Julie Burchill and get a slap.

Otherwise an arbitrary selection of…

Her analytic eye and distaste of one-sided views:
What the housemates know and what they don't know
Why has a girl always been first out?
On doing nothing, flying under the radar and getting the sympathy vote.
Witches, cliques, cronies and block votes
Challenge: defend your least favourite housemate.

Her sense of humour and quirky threads:
Personally, I'm disappointed by the wisdom of the insects...
Post BB cliches
Classic Ch 4 scenes vajazzled by Ch 5
Most iconic BB garment (poll)
The story of Aaron in iambic couplets
Most unsuitable job for the housemates
One housemate; one week on a desert island; and you
Is this an erotic scene?

She was a great lover of housemates and of the forum:
News from the uncharted wastelands of BB (Merged)
Has the forum ever independently changed your feelings?
Gather round children for a forum history lesson...

On a personal note, I’m glad that if we never met I at least taught her Top Trumps,
“14 year old boys will never be safe again from fearsome old bats challenging them to games.”
Thank you for doing all that. A very apt gesture given her love of the search button. I shall definitely take time to have a look through all those classics.

Caroline was so funny on here and FB and kept her famous sense of humour up to the end. I raise a toast to her great wit and hope there is a digital spy forum wherever she is now. Gone but definitely not forgotten Wonkey x

Ahh, lovely to see you two! I really hoped you'd pop back to pay tribute, thanks.

I used to get on with Wonkey but we fell out over a series of BB a few years back (Luke A series). In that series her usual fair judgement seemed to disappear and she became very obsessive about Luke (Think Sweetprincess' obsession with Marc is bad? RIP Wonkey.
The bit in bold's not a fair comparison, just because you didn't agree with who she liked. She wasn't obsessed, she supported someone who subsequently became a real life friend.

Mind you that comment does remind me of her intolerance of wind-up merchants and her uncanny ability to spot posters who'd been banned and rejoined under another name. Some of them tried to make an enemy of her, even to the point that she discovered a Twitter plot to try and get her so wound up she'd be banned from here! As if that nonsense would ever work!

Anyway if she's able to look down on us no doubt she'd be tutting at the mods allowing us to break the T&Cs by discussing a forum mate. I'll leave you for now with her favourite cartoon which she said summed her up perfectly:

Wonkey, our views were so often polar opposites, but you were always so considered and articulate with your own opinions, and one of the biggest BB fans I've ever had the pleasure to talk with.

All my love <3

RIP fellow BB addict - keep watching on catchup if you can
