I have just read through this thread again but the sadness didn't diminish. I have donated to the Hospice and it is nice to see they have nearly reached their target. God bless WD - an iconic poster on here who will be sorely missed. x

My goodness, £854 raised already! The hospice is going to be blown away by everyone's generosity. Thank you so much.

This update was left on there yesterday:

I haven't listened to the podcast myself yet but it only seemed fair to bring it to everyone's attention.

It was lovely to hear that sermon in Caroline's own voice, and Jennifer's account of the Blue Dress moved me greatly

Oh my, I'm shocked, sad and gutted. She was a force to be reckoned with and I hope there's an afterlife just so she can give someone hell for this. You go Wonkey - we're all behind you

I haven't been able to get her out of my mind since I heard the sad news: she was so warm and funny- even during her illness she had very amusing insights to the ridiculousness of hospitals and illnesses. I cannot express how much sadder a place this world is without her in it
Yes it's incredibly sad. The podcast is very poignant, something to keep and treasure.. I confess to looking at her Facebook page and reading her posts including during her illness. Such humour, she was a remarkable and brave woman. So many lovely photographs too. I had no idea how quickly this all happened. I've just lost two dear friends to cancer in virtually the same space of time, husband and wife, which really brought it home to me. Jane is a real chip off the old block, so compassionate and wise.

Its been the same for me too. I find myself walking around a supermarket and realise my mind has drifted and is thinking with sadness of a woman I never even met. So strange and so sad.

This is such sad news. She was a true BB fan and her opinions were always a joy to read - well rounded, constructive and insightful. She used to champion my favorite HM's too and I remember campaigning the win of some HM's along side her.

What a shame.

My thoughts are with her family.

Same, even though she irritated the bejesus out of me at times.

I remember when she participated in one on the digital big brother games I hosted at the time. 6 or 7 years ago.

I just remember she spoke her mind a lot. A bit like me. Lol.

Anyway just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear this sad new and hope she is at peace now.

Pretty incredible to see the number of views this thread has had, as well as the one in General Discussion - just shows you how much a part of the DS furniture Wonkey was.

Yes, what a wonderful tribute

I hope people won't stop contributing now the target's been reached - that last photo was incredibly sad (it had me in tears) but everyone should have the chance to take their final bow in such dignity.

I have just got back from my holiday to find out this awful news.
I got to know Caroline from her many interesting posts on here and really loved her fair and honest assessments on various housemates. She was a huge supporter of Luke Anderson as was I and she asked me to vote for him in the final as she was going to be away so unable to do so herself. She sent me the money and I was proud to add her votes to mine and I cannot tell you how delighted she was to return from holiday to discover Luke had won. I know Caroline did meet Luke and found him to be everything she thought he was and I was pleased as so often people don't meet your expectations when you meet them in real life. Personally, I will miss WD's posting on here - a truly remarkable woman who will be sorely missed both here and in the other forums she posted in. Condolences to her family and friends - such a sad loss. RIP Caroline xx
Yes jeano, I think a majority of us feel as you do. Most of the long term posters are all very sad, many a similar age to her as I am and are completely in shock. She was somebody that you always expected to pop up, especially when BB was on and it will not be quite the same now knowing she won't be here again! I think the majority of posters loved reading her posts whether they agreed with her or not and she is going to be greatly missed. It will be like losing a fond pen pal and much more!

Caroline's daughter has posted this on facebook and given permission for me to copy it here.

"As the Farewell for my mother approaches this week her JustGiving page has already reached 100% of its initial target - thank you so much everyone!

The Hospice has said a big thank you for all the fundraising so far and said our money can help fund the garden. In particular they want to build shade canopies for the rooms that open out onto the garden so people can go outside but still be in the shade. This was a problem when we were there - we precariously balanced an umbrella on ma's bed to keep her face in the shade because it was so important to us that she could feel the fresh air."

The family are very touched by how generous the Digital Spy forum members have been. xx
