The donation page makes it unnecessarily difficult. It wants an e-mail address. Ok, I'm willing to give it an e-mail address. Then it insists that I create some sort of account, with a password. I don't want to create yet another account on the internet. So I click on "Facebook log in". It says "Please wait while we process your Facebook login..." After 10 minutes of no further response, I investigate and find why it's not working. Then: "JustGiving is requesting the following info: your public profile, friend list and email address". No, that's asking for too much.

I looked on the Hospice's web site and found there is an alternative; in case there are other people who just want to donate, without creating an account or giving out personal information, I'll post it here:

Veri - you can donate on the Just Giving page as "anonymous". They do need an email address to acknowledge your donation but I didn't give any other details.

You can pay via PayPal, assuming you have an account of course.

Unfortunately, just Giving wants me to create a Just Giving account before it shows me anything about PayPal.

But I'm reluctant to use PayPal in any case, because the only time I've ever seen random, expensive items mysteriously appear in a credit card bill (which took months to resolve), it was with a card that I'd never used for anything except PayPal.

Sounds like a cheque would be your best bet

I see your dilemma. Personally I've found PayPal an absolute boon, I loathe giving out my CC details for obvious reasons but never had any security issues with PayPal, thus far.

I had trouble with it too, wasn't keen on registering but decided to do it anyway, then it kept taking me back to the wrong page, had to re-do it in Firefox and when it was finally done started having problems with the paypal connection, it seemed jinxed! So now I'm registered for no reason as I'll have to send a cheque anway. Gah.

How very sad, I simply had no idea Wonkeydonkey was so ill. In the old days we occasionally crossed swords as she was inclined to like and support different housemates to me. This wasn't news I was expecting to see and my condolences go out to her family and friends at this sad time.

This is very sad news for her friends and family and the forum itself. She was always someone I looked for in Big Brother as she was someone you could have a discussion with-she would often start an idea going.

Caroline's daughter has posted details on Facebook of the 2 commemorative services. Her funeral is tomorrow but there's also a Celebration Of Life on Saturday 3rd October. All are welcome so if you can get to London please send an RSVP. I won't put the address here but I'll link to the Facebook post which is set to Public so hopefully you can all see it:

Think they will be spoilt for choice as there are some quite wonderful and also funny messages in both this and the GD thread. Cannot see how anyone could object as we are all anonymous

It's very touching reading the messages on the Just Giving site how many donations are from Digital Spy users. As someone who was lucky enough to be Caroline's friend on facebook too, I for one would just like to say thanks to those who posted the links on DS and to those who have donated.

This would be easy to overlook but now they've hit the target for the hospice they've put up a second page to raise money for her favourite charity, Sightsavers. They're not asking anyone to donate twice but, if you haven't already donated, I think they'd prefer you to use this page now.

I have just been re-reading the lovely comments left about Caroline. What a wonderful tribute. My favourite 'when she contributed to your thread it was like the queen visiting'. Just how I felt.

I just want to say I am thinking of Caroline's friends and family today as they say goodbye to this lovely lady.

Yes I agree, it must have been a very hard, sad day for her family today and my heart goes out to them!

It is very insightful looking at Caroline's posts on her Facebook page, so jovial, funny and witty and it seems such a very strong lady. So like her Wonkeydonkey profile on here! She will be greatly missed that is for sure!

I remember being friends with a WonkyDonkey on the GR website a few years ago, and did wonder if it were the same lady. I loved the quirky name and her posts. She will be sadly missed. Thoughts are with her family now, those we love are not forgotten. RIP WonkeyDonkey.......xxxx
