That is a bit spooky.
I wasn't too surprised that someone else from this thread (CLL) had had the same joke, but two out of three from the funeral is a bit of a coincidence. Maybe Barracute is right!

I am very sorry to hear of her passing.
She was a very kind lady who was passionate about Big Brother and was a hugely respected forum user. Thoughts with her family and friends at this difficult time. |

I am mostly a lurker but come on the forum to look around on the run up to BB. I am so sorry to learn about Wonkey. She was always very insightful. And there was many a chuckle.....she will be missed very much.

Ah, I posted something at the time but would like to make a note in this thread, just in case someone near to wonkeydonkey in real life has occasion to read through it.
Excellent woman from this angle, displaying many facets of how to be wide minded and open hearted. She had a fair old whack of understanding. And even when occasionally she painted herself into an argumental corner, which was pretty damn rare as it goes and always due to her having gone endearingly soft on some housemate or other, she was gracious about her predicament. She appeared able to have her nose flicked when she was getting too serious, which is a major attribute often absent in the pathologically fair. Maybe she was quite horrid in real life, but I seriously doubt it and from where I've been sat I'd vote for her in the last ever election for the role of benevolent dictator. If that isn't overstating the case a bit. See ya missus. |

'Pathologically fair'- sums it up but that's quite a burden in a forum such as this and quite a stressor in getting that fairness across in a reasonable way, and with a degree of humour too .I've never managed it myself, giving up after a paragraph or two....but she managed it, and often. That takes a special human touch which she had in buckets. Well done Wonkeydonke.y. |

Very sad news. I noticed her originally because my youngest brother always called his bike, 'Wonkey Donkey'. He once cycled from John O'Groats to Land's End, a recovering alcoholic. He died two years ago, from cancer, the Wonkey Donkey cycle still hanging on the wall of his lounge!
I found our Wonkeydonkey to be a mature, intelligent forum member, who was always fair and balanced in her postings. A very sad loss to the forum. R.I.P. |

I see that this has been unpinned, which is fair enough after four months – even though tributes are still coming in! It's quite likely that her family will see them sooner or later btw as they have a link to the thread and were touched by the response on here (as I mentioned some were even printed out for her memorial service).
Could I suggest that this thread is moved up to the Appreciation Section? It is basically an Appreciation Thread after all, and it might be easier to find there if people wanted to mark an anniversary or something. |

And there it is!
![]() ![]() They even said they liked the idea. I usually think of the mods as totally separate from us lowlifes on here, but I suppose they may have been fond of her as well. I still find it quite odd to look back and trying to line up her online and offline situation. I was reminded of how delighted she was to have it confirmed that the South Africa twist really was left open rather than fixed for Cameron. Looking at the thread up again, that was in the second half of June, so she'd already been suffering for some time by that stage and was shaping up to have what was supposed to be a crucial operation. |

This is a sermon of wonkeydonkeys from 2012 that was on her church website. I listened to and enjoyed and thought others here might like if they hadnt heard it - the sound is a bit loud at the start so you might need to turn down volume first, but her humour comes across well and her mention of tv towards the end makes me think of her watching big brother and participating on the forum.
I admired her common sense and fairness, and she once sent me a personal message out of the blue which was very kind -I had sounded upset in a reply to her friend's post. I noticed that she seemed to pick up on different qualities in each poster that could be celebrated and commented often when she thought people were interesting or funny. She once said 'I liked that ' after a post I made and I was very embarrassed but pleased that I had made her smile. When she quoted something I had written I thought -oh good -at least that bit of my post made sense then. phew!. I perceived that , while I was prone to rambling about past things, she would subtly bring the conversation round to what might be of interest to current posters by mentioning the housemates who were currently in the house, as I had stopped watching . So I learnt from her without her pointing it out, to be more present, aware of audience and also of the bigger picture -what wasnt for me might be great for others watching and its best for me to choose not to watch than spoil others enjoyment. I am glad that this thread is in the appreciation section - she appreciated other posters and the forum and tried to bring out the best in it, she mentioned how there were intelligent posts on the big brother forum -she probably realised those posters might be embarrassed about being a big brother fan or posting here so wanted them to feel respected and appreciated. I think she perhaps thought it was wasteful for good qualities in people to be overlooked.I dont post anymore as it has always been embarrassing and scary for me- and probably uncomfortable reading for others. I am suited best to small group interaction or one on one with people who know me but I thought it was a shame if some of you who might like to hear this would miss it. rest in peace wonkeydonkey and love to your family, well done on your dedication and fairness here as said by posters above. http://www.kensington-unitarians.org...n_01.04.12.mp3 |

I can understand the reluctance though. I hadn't heard the sermon – some quite unusual takes on the original Aesop.

I'm a shy poster too, and rarely say anything in the forum of much significance preferring just to nod a lot at posts someone else has worked very hard on but which strike a chord with me. Actually, I should probably strike the word 'shy' out, I may be a bit reticent to put myself out there, for fear of being jumped on - but more than that, I'm a lazy poster, enjoying the lurking and reading more than actually saying much myself. However, you are clearly not lazy but maybe you become more vulnerable because you speak your own truth and voice your own opinions. I think that's a great thing to be able to do, so keep it up and don't keep your insightful posts to just a couple of people. Forums like this need people like you and I'm sure Wonkey would be cheering you on to be yourself, and throw your holler in there as loud as anyone else

Yes I enjoy reading more than posting too stray. I will keep reading the forum and maybe post here again sometime. Thank you for the lovely, encouraging posts Trumbles, Bella Boffin and stray.

I'm going to post some thoughts about bb17 here as Lesley suggested.
![]() I think out of the current hm's wonkeydonkey might have liked Andy best. As he seems from his facebook to be a social person who cares about and is interested in people and is principled -wonkeydonkey's husband described her as gentle, principled and strong in one of her facebook pages. When he was introduced to us, I initially thought he might be arrogantly normal - seeing himself above the louder characters - which is similar to what I thought about Rachel Rice at the start but then she grew on me to become my favourite and I realised that that personal pride could be what gives them strength. I think it would have helped her detractors if she had made a comment about how all the diifferent personalities brought something to the show - that on her own she was quite an ordinary consistent personality who might not be exciting viewing and she was glad there were the diverse and lively personalities to entertain the public along with her - like in Cheryl Cole's autiobigraphy she said at the end, after thanking her friends and supporters 'and thanks to all the arseholes, for making my life so colourful'. Some of the louder characters in bb could be more sensitive and vulnerable than they appear. I quite like Jayne and it was sweet that she said she would want to hug Chelsea, I would like to see Jayne and Chelsea and Charlie and Jason become friends through the show. I think Andy could be a good friend to Laura as he seemed protective of her, advising Lateysha not to be hasty judging Laura for the nomination and perhaps worrying about whether Laura was being reckless or selfdestructive in being so keen to be seen as the sexy one in the house -maybe she is afraid of being a dsappointment to the producers if she didnt live up to how she was in auditiions, or she is worried about being seen as prudish or dull, or being invisible or worthless if she doesnt be fun and sexy. Perhaps its that -she thinks she might be rejected for being dull so she is trying to be rejected for being sexy instead if that feels less embarassing to her. She looks a bit like Lindsay Lohan and Naomi Watts to me with the pleasant polite cheerfulness of Claire Sweeney or Carol Vorderman. Marco reminds me of Jade Ewan from Celeb Hijack in his eyes and enthusiasm and Sam like John Bishop or Vernon Kay. Ryan reminds me a little of Emma from bb5 when she was in the bedsit. Jackson reminds me a little of a young John Waters, The twins are sweet and likeable so far and I think might be more intelligent and interesting than we have seen so far, Evelyn seems cool and intelligent,. Lateysha Georgina and Natalya seen honest and sure in their opinions which is interesting to hear compared to a contrived pleasant persona -but I hope there isnt too much conflict and unpleasantness in the house and it will be a fun show. |

I only really post on DS when Big Brother is on, and I haven't watched it much over the last few years. I can honestly say that wonkeydonkey was perhaps the only poster I actually remembered from here (Veri is another), and in fact wondered why I wasn't seeing any of her posts for this new series. Now I have found the thread, and I know
Very sad news that she has passed away, she was always the best poster in the BB forum for me.

Aw Zutto, it is sad for you and other forum members who will see this thread for the first time.
I read through some old posts of wonkeydonkey's sometimes and found a lovely one she posted in 2010 in Shabby Appreciation thread where she thanked you and some other members . It starts with her responding to a post by Veri mentioning Nymphadora Tonks and Shabby resemblance. I hope this link works- http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...postcount=2107 I made a couple of mistakes in my earlier post -Jade Eden not Ewan, Natalie not Natalya and I forgot at least two hm's including the lovely Alex -I'm sure Lateysha would be flabbergasted he could slip my mind. |

I just had to go through my PM's as my box was getting full and I needed to delete.
I came across a few from Wonkey Donkey - needless to say I didn't delete. I re read and remembered what a really lovely and caring person she was. She'll long be remembered on here. Glad to see this thread is still alive. |
