I knew her as 'Don't Call Me Shirley' from the C4 forums. She was a vetran poster and may she rest in peace.

I know on General Discussion, which Wonkey spent quite a lot of time on as she cut back on her BB posting (but always returned here with encyclopedic knowledge when someone had a query on past series), that she was a superb poster. If you had an opposing opinion and left her a loophole she could spot the flaw in seconds and would set off to calmly tie you in knots without ever being offensive.
People could become exasperated, and on she would plough, demolishing arguments and willing to take on all-comers. Undoubtedly one of the best.

Even though I don't post on here much, I always enjoyed reading wonkeydonkey's posts. Erudite, warm, insightful, compassionate and witty. Rest in Peace.

I typed Wonkeydonkey into Google and Digital Spy was one of the suggestions from Google. That is how well she was known on here.

So sad to hear this. She was always a fair-minded, balanced poster, often a voice of sanity when "forum wars" would break out. I'd always read any thread she started. I had noticed her absence in recent years and thought the forum was poorer for it.

Gosh. So very sad news. I didn't converse much with WD. I loved her posts and giggled when she would tie opposing posters in knots. Such a brilliant lady and as others have said, a true legend here. I will sincerely miss her. .
My thoughts to her family and friends x

It's very, very sad indeed.

For me, she was in many respects, as much a part of the BB forum as the show itself.

Her encyclopaedic knowledge of BB was incredible and awe inspiring and whether you agreed with her or not, her intelligence and eloquence were something to be admired.

As far as legendary status goes, I feel she earned and deserves it and a little light went off in here today.

Really sad news. I was always happy to find a post by Wonkeydonkey on DS as I knew she would present a reasonable and rational take on things, and articulate her opinions clearly and intelligently without offending anyone. Condolences to her family and all who loved her, rest in peace Wonkey.

Oh my goodness I've known her a good few years since the C4 forum days, and she's never been anything but lovely to me, and about me. Not only were her posts brilliant, but she had a real grounded nature about her. We didn't necessarily agree on housemates a lot, but she was one of a kind, respectful all round.

Bl00dy cancer. Had no idea she was ill... RIP sweet

Sad news.

I can't say I was ever especially close to wonkeydonkey, but I think we commented on one another's threads from time to time. I'm sad to say that I don't really recall much about her opinions, but I remember that she always expressed them well, in mature and thought-out full sentences, and never ignored anyone's opinion or was rude to anyone. May she rest in peace, and I hope that those people on here who knew her well will be able to move on from this sad loss.

I'd also like (as no one else has mentioned it) to thank the original poster for clarifying what has happened. As much as the news may upset people, I just think it would be a real shame for the forum not to know, and for people to think that she had just got bored when she didn't comment anymore. At least now people have closure.

Does anyone know what her real name was?

RIP

I was genuinely shocked at hearing this - such tragic news. Whilst I've only been a member of DS for just under a year, I've read the forums since about 2003, and WonkeyDonkey's posts have always been a highlight for me (although I believe she joined later than 2003, not sure though). She was such an integral part of these forums around the end of BB's run on Channel 4, and although I didn't know her, it actually feels like a personal loss.

Such sad news

I could always tell a WD post without looking at the name of the poster because of her writing style - intelligent, witty, articulate, kind, funny, even whimsical at times and always, always gentle. She was one of a kind and will be missed.

My thoughts are with her loved ones.

Caroline. I'm a bit wary of giving away too much personal information on a forum where people can feel more comfortable with a username.
