She had been under a lot of hospital care since the spring but was always so matter of fact about it. Never one to make a fuss. She kept upbeat with her tales of NHS incompetence, making it sound like the plot of a sitcom, and I wish you could have read about her childlike glee at getting a stairlift fitted! So the end came as a shock, I think she kept the worst of it away from us and treated chronic illness like just another one of life's hurdles you have to deal with.
On here we bonded in one of the Appreciation Threads. As so many of you have said she was always very fair and thoughtful. She loved getting stuck into a meaty debate and was always interested and respectful of wildly differing views.
BB14 was the final straw for her - too manipulated and resorting to personal humiliation for her liking. She had a bad instinct about BB15 and refused to watch, a good call as it turned out. She was still up for dissecting the tiniest detail of BB's good old days though!
So yes, it's quite fair to call Wonkeydonkey a DS legend, one who will be very sorely missed.
I trust she gave the Grim Reaper a polite and very stern telling off for his audacity.”
Many thanks for the extra information on here Val, it is greatly appreciated, she sounds like she was very upbeat and courageous until the end. Do you know how old she was? You are right when you say she was a DS legend, she will always be remembered and missed by so many of us. It's a very, very sad day, condolences to all her family and friends xx
