Yeah sounds a bit like Carol, she's been in it long enough for us to care and also had a super depressing life. Or it could be a depression and suicide story, most people with mental health issues in soaps seem to recover unless they're a deranged killer.
Don't think it was Lee, but DTC says it was an end that would have been too fitting for the character and would have upset viewers, which makes me think it was Carol.

I would say Carol is an eastenders legend now, and Eastenders especially needs to be very careful about who they kill off, its always regretted in the long run, Pat, Cindy KATHY!!
Not sure why murder is in the title. Doesn't mention anything about murder just a death. Agree I think it's carol and they're right it would send out wrong message.

I was going to say the same and initial though was Ronnie
Ronnie, Carol or even possibly Lee (depression, what if there was a plan that he committed suicide?).

DTC says that it's 'coming up' which makes me think it can't be about Ronnie, but a story that's currently playing out or at least one about to start. I don't think they had any intention of killing Ronnie off.
I think Lee. He seemed to imply that killing the character just didn't feel right, didn't do the story justice and sent out a bad message. That can only be in connection to Lee's story surely?

Dean murdered by Ronnie. Good. It's a cop out vis a vis Dean and making Ronnie a wannabe serial killer is destroying a already damaged character.
Reading the article I thought of Carol but my first thought was Alfie. There were rumours last Christmas that he was going to kill himself as the guilt over the fire got too much for him. I know that wouldn't sit well with all the Alfie fans but it would have been a much better conclusion to that storyline than having everybody forgive him and a lottery win. If they didn't have the guts to write it properly they shouldn't have sent Alfie down such a dark path. Of course we now have his potential brain tumour and I have no idea where they'll go with that. That also could have been the death they have reconsidered.
