adblock plus browser now available on iOS

just in case anyone wasn't aware. been using it for the past half an hour or so and it's working well - handles DS flawlessly. i've found one or two sites that can still throw a popup, but there are options in the browser to turn on different blocklists so I imagine it'll cover most eventualities or rogue ads that get through.

There's the obligatory option to turn acceptable ads off or on as well.

looks very similar to opera mini initially, but doesn't quite have the usability yet but it appears to be fairly early days.

i'm not going to ditch opera mini just yet, but if the ABPB keeps operating as well as this then it may well end up as my default browser.

Hopefully the updates for Safari in iOS 9 will allow for an ABP extension in the native browser.

According to BBC News ad blocking extensions will be available to use with safari.

It's just to stop google making money from iPhone users, maybe.

that's excellent news. While i'm quite happy using a third party browser, i suppose the nature of the beast means that safari is integrated in to the operating system so will always be the default choice.

having adblocking ability on that will be great - can only hope it's as decent as uBlock.

one thing i'm finding with this browser at the moment is that if you go to an advert-intensive site like the Daily Mirror, it does take a while to actually load the page up and often freezes while it's doing it.

I suppose with more optimization it could work better.

It doesn't work very well. I'm still getting ads on DS forums page.

have you turned off the acceptable ads option?
