I have had my Nexus 4 since it launched and am running the latest OS. Over the past few weeks, I have experienced the following problems:

- Severe battery drain even when the phone is just in standby and not being used
- Taking ages to charge (although this has been similar since they updated the software ages ago and for some reason the official charger no longer charged it quickly!)
- Weird issues with the WiFi - you turn it on or off from the pull down menu but it doesn't turn it off or on. For example, if you select Off it still shows all of the available WiFi networks!
- Other weird things

On the battery issue, it was 98% charged at 11am. I have now checked my phone and it was turned off. Turned it back on and it is at 0%! The battery stats don't reveal any rogue apps, just a massive drop off in the battery!

Any reason why this should have just started happening? I am thinking of getting a new phone soon anyway but just wondered why this is happening now?

You could try a factory reset. However the device is nearly 3 years old and will be getting very tired if you have used it every day. I had an N4 a couple of years ago and the battery life was never a strong point. Batteries don't last for ever as well.

You can get apps that will look at the health of the battery
eg https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...v.ampere&hl=en
Would be worth looking at some and seeing what they report.

Thanks but what about the WiFi issue? It seems as if it is a bug within the software.

Haven't had the wifi issue. This suggests a few people have your experience
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2015/05...-1-1-problems/
It also mentions a factory reset someone in the text.

You can get a new battery for the Nexus 4 on Ebay for around £8 and it's fairly easy to fit. That should give it a new lease of life.

I've been a big fan of the N4 since it first came out but mine is now on its last legs so I'm looking for a new mid-range phone. I just can't decide whether to go for the new Moto X Play which is almost pure Android or wait a while to see what the new Nexus 5 is like.

My N4 is just now very laggy at times. It does the random battery drain but you know its coming as it sticks on a high percentage for ages before dropping to 5%.

I had a strange one yesterday where it went into some new mode, lost everything on the phone. So switched it off and back on and there was all my stuff and setup again.

Like people say its an old phone now and I guess its done well to last this long with all the new updates - even though they have caused some real issues.
