Very much better tonight, though the set is still terrible. The whole thing was sharper and it helped that Aisha responded well. Jack Dee was much more on the ball, Romesh was excellent and the other panel members were good value.
I agree that the second episode was much better which makes sense given the changes and is a good sign that it will improve more. I don't agree about Romesh though. He seems to be the latest comedian that is everywhere and I personally do not find him very funny. The odd comment is OK but I was surprised that he was chosen as a regular guest (I don't even see why they need any regular guest). I accept that it is all subjective, though, and clearly some people like him.

I'm not usually a Jack Dee fan but really like his approach to this programme. I thought Dara was too fond of hogging the camera and just bantering endlessly with his comedy mates. The fired candidate used to be left on the side lines for long periods whereas Jack allows them to participate much more. I do find Romesh generally unfunny and especially that VT which was as ill conceived as the Desert Secrets. I enjoyed both the Fired programmes much more than in previous series - and don't mind the minimalist set.
It shows that Jack is not used to presenting, at least in this type of scenario. I suspect he will get more comfortable in time and do think he shows a respect to the contestant which is quite endearing. As for Dara, the thing is that he started as a presenter and frankly I have never been convinced of him as a comedian. He was good at this show because it is not all-out comedy but I cringe at him on Mock The Week when he gets a laugh and proceeds to milk it desperately. For me, he is more a presenter who can sometimes be funny which is why he seemed more comfortable and competent than Jack Dee (so far anyway).

Dara originally started out on TV as a kids presenter before he got into comedy so he has a head start on Jack.

You may not find him funny, which is fair enough, but it must be hard to ignore the laughter of people who do. If he really was that unfunny his jokes and comments would fall flat.

Dara's style is riffing on a theme, taking it as far as he can. He's made a very successful career as a stand up out of it.

I used to enjoy watching You're Fired but I'm finding it so boring and tedious. I know Dara sometimes used to riff too much but boy do I miss him now.
Romesh is unfunny and why oh why does he have to do those awful VTs?

As for the businesswoman guest this week, what was that "no can mean yes" c**p?

I like to see the candidates so that is why I'm still watching for now, but whoever made these changes should be fired!

Getting a bit more used to Jack now, I still think he's out of his comfort zone, but some of his jibes aimed at Romesh were bang on and I did laugh.

I gave up after the first episode. It was incredibly unfunny and I didn't learn anything from watching it that I didn't already know from watching the episode.

Yes it wasn't so good this week. Episode two was the best so far. The terrible set isn't helping the chemistry either. The gifts aren't funny any more so that bit is awkward now. They should have given her an empty sack to pick up manure.

It wasn't helped by Claude's constant attempts to pretend he's a hard man of business. Despite his reputation he comes over as a softy. But they all have to pretend to be frightened of him. I've quite warmed to him as an advisor but that's largely because his bad guy persona isn't portrayed in the main show. The woman on the panel with him was also not that good.

With good guests and a good candidate, like last week, it's still a good watch. Dara's style as host was much better but there's no going back to that now.

Oh god this, so much this. In past YF series he's clearly shown himself to be a nice man outside the reality show shtick but this time with his constant "I'm tough me"-esque quips it felt so jarring and awkward. Especially because the audience was laughing politely more than anything and you could even visibly see Jenny cringe in her seat when he said things like that.

I don't think Jack is very good in this, really.

Romesh is a funny guy, but has no chemistry with Dee, and so the "banter" between them doesn't work. Also, I wish he'd stop showing off his man boobs in the sketches.

Dara was more lively and seemed to have a more genuine love of the show.

Why was Jack Dee chosen? His comedy persona is deadpan to the point of grumpiness, so is ill-suited to light-hearted banter. It is just as daft as, say, booking Al Murray and wondering why the pub landlord turned up. You can sometimes see where Jack switches out of character to talk to the fired candidate.

I like jack Dee but not in this show. Someone like Simon Amstell would have been great in my opinion

Hating the new You're Fired. I don't find Jack funny at all, and Romesh is just awful. He comes across very self-satisfied imo.

I agree and have given up on it. Dara was funny and lived the show as did Adrian before him. I like Jack Dee a lot, but not in this. Romesh is just a tick in someone's ethnic quota box, absolutely dreadful.

Yeah, this weeks episodes seemed to highlight the more flawed aspects of the new format. Jack seems to be lacking a lot of flair and most of the humor just fell flat. Still hate the dark dreary set too!

I haven't seen the most recent one yet, but from the first two episodes I must say that I find it a vast improvement on Series 10. It isn't perfect by any means, but they could do a lot worse, and have.

I am a big Jack Dee fan but this isn't really his strength so can see why others are finding fault, he doesn't look entirely comfortable at this point. Personally I am enjoying him more than the last guy that seemed to talk over the contestants to get his joke across. Jack is showing more respect and his natural wit is coming through imo. yeah he tells the odd clunker but generally pretty funny I think. I think he makes a good team with the other guy personally, the little digs are amusing.

He knows a bit about making money - and keeping hold of it.

Adrian Chiles was the original host as he had fronted a business programme.
Dara has not exactly had "business experience" but is a good presenter and able to keep the programme moving along.

Jack Dee is a good host - excellent on Im Sorry I Haven't a clue on radio - but his grumpy persona does not fit with this.

Romesh has no business experience either - he was a teacher.

I know Katherine Ryan and John Bishop were both very successful in the coroporate world - but I am sure there are others who could present who have been market traders etc.

Yes, I agree. I can understand why people might have issues with certain elements of the show, but I really can't see how they think it can possibly be worse than last year. I was saying that Dara needed to get out for a long time before he actually announced he was leaving - maybe someone saw my comments!

Lol, I doubt many people make important decisions based on random comments from strangers on the internet.

That was a slight joke

Although I do think that forums like this probably play a part in television decisions. Producers want something that is going to appeal - that's why there are surveys for certain things - so reviews and public reactions to TV shows will contribute something at times.
