I know there is a similar thread to this already, but I am approaching it from the viewpoint of someone who has a 6 and is trying to decide whether to upgrade to a 6S or 6S Plus. I was really in two minds last year between the 6 and 6 Plus but went for the 6 as I felt the 6 Plus would just be too big. However, having had a year with the 6 which was bigger than my previous 5S, I am coming round to the view that I want a 6S Plus. I am currently travelling in Africa and on my travels every time I see someone with a 6 Plus I ask their opinion - I must say I get suspicious looks when I put their phone in my pocket to try it out! I overwhelmingly get advice to go for it. What do other people think in the same situation - or are there any who went for the 6 Plus but this time round are going for the smaller one ?

Depends on the price plans. I will be upgrading from 5S next month. Ideally I'd get the 6S+.

I've got the 6 Plus and would never go smaller I don't even see it as being big now. The 5s and 4s look so dinky now though.

Ouch I feel for you TouchWiz is awful I think I would prefer the 4S least it only lags because it's old lol.

Yeah. I'm actually trying to swap it for a Microsoft handset.... It's THAT bad. Battery is pretty dire and camera isn't as good as i thought it would be.

Don't think I could go to 4S screen size again. Then again I'm not sure I could put myself through touchwiz again.

^^^^^This^^^^^

I have a 6plus and would go as far as to say it's not even what I would call big. I think this kind of device size should be the norm.

And people wonder why Samsung are losing money they can't make a phone which actually runs well. People go on about lack of specs in an iPhone but I've never heard anyone actually say that iOS runs bad like touchwiz.

That and the Android dichotemy. Why buy a Galaxy S6 costing £700 (now dropped to £400 on amazon wow!) when you can buy a £200 other brand, avoid touchwiz and still run all the same identical apps?

modern touchwiz doesnt run bad, the problem is mud sticks, so basically it has kept that reputation.

I own a oneplusone and a S5+, the oneplusone has a cpu that is almost as good as the s5+, it has more memory and runs a non touchwiz rom, I was honestly expecting it to be faster and more responsive due to the so called touchwiz slowness and extra ram, but the truth is its noticeably a lot slower, I reckon its actually slower than my old s3. Also the screen is a lot worse quality and the wireless is lower spec as well. Clearly there was a reason the oneplus one was £200 or so cheaper.

Slower flash memory (also less durable?)
much worse quality screen, not only with viewing quality but smears a lot worse.
Slower wireless spec
non removable storage/battery (granted s6 has this issue as well now)
Heavier
Back of phone dirt sticks to it, some kind of weird material thats hard to clean.

Modern touchwiz is very responsive its not the old bloated down touchwiz from 5 years ago. Also the stock AOSP ui in my view is poor touchwiz makes it better.

I haven't tried a S6 but I've tried a S5 and unless TouchWiz has had a complete overhaul it is far more laggy than my iPhone running on iOS. Not saying that it's entirely Samsungs fault but it's noticeable to me

Not actually used a One Plus didn't want a phone without 800MHz or VoLTE Support.

Well I am not comparing to iphone's but to non touchwiz android phones.

I have no doubt the iphone experience is well optimised as apple control both the hardware and software development, which is a big advantage.

So the lag you noticed was probably android itself rather than touchwiz.

My Moto G 4G (1st edition) lags noticeably and its supposed to be "almost stock".

That's interesting to know. I remember when I first got my 5 after having a 4s for a while and even that seemed "big" but I easily got used to it.

Certainly makes me wonder if i'd ever get used to a 6 in a similar fashion, even though I do think the size jump is a lot more significant than going from a 4 to a 5.

Played with both the 6 and the 6+ before i bought the 6 - just felt that the plus was a size increase too far and it would have annoyed me when putting it in a pocket or one-handed typing. Did the same recently in the local Apple store before once again ordering the smaller variant - it's a good compromise between pocket-ability and function.

I've pre ordered the 6S plus, 128 GB. I currently have the 128GB 6 plus. I don't find the plus to be too big at all. I'm a female with small hands and I use it just fine. Before I had the 6 plus I had been using the galaxy note phones for a few years so I'm now very used to using larger phones. The 6S is just too small for me, it seems like a toy.

Please stop saying you don't find the 6 plus too big because you're all going to tempt me to get one where i've been quite happy with my 5s

For what its worth I've had a Galaxy S5 for a few months now and I still really haven't got used to the size. I love the screen size for watching media and surfing the internet but ideally it is just a bit too big for trouser pockets and for typing one handed so I would not get the 5.5 inch screen. Although I've not held a iPhone 6... with a 4.7 inch screen I reckon that's the ideal size for a smart phone.

I still type with one hand on my 6 plus I just let the handset rest on my fingers as I stretch them out fully sometimes I have to touch or hold it with my other hand though but not much.

Thanks for that. I might have to find a shop that will let me have a go of the 6 just to see what i think.

Rather scarily, I've just been working out my budget to see if I could upgrade to a 64gb 6s and .. i can ..

It'd be a 2 year deal, but that wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I'd get unlimited minutes and texts and 2gb of data with it as well.

Must. Resist

Plenty of them about.

Why buy a mid range IOS phone without OIS or a 1080p screen but with a closed list of apps when you can have an alternative without OISnor 1080p but open to all apps, for about the price of an Applecare warranty?

Each to their own.

Yep, there is plenty of choice out there.

Apple must be doing something right to attract so many customers and maintain such a high level of customer satisfaction.
